Bush sickened, but suspects still at work
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/05/07/1083911408076.html

"two of the central figures named in a US Army report two months ago as most likely responsible for the abuses were still in their jobs. They are the head of the army's military intelligence unit in Baghdad, Colonel Thomas Pappas, and a shadowy private defence contractor who worked as an interrogator with that unit at the Abu Ghraib prison, Steven Stephanowicz."

"But the Pentagon confirmed this week that Colonel Pappas was still commanding his unit even though he has been reprimanded over the scandal and there are reports he may soon be criminally charged."

"Gary Myers, a defence officer for one of the MPs charged, told the Herald that military intelligence officers would enter the cell blocks in "sterile" uniforms, showing no names or ranks, making it difficult to track their activities."

General Taguba's report clearly stated that Mr Stephanowicz, a private contractor to US Army military intelligence, was heavily implicated and recommended that he never be employed by the army again and be stripped of his government security clearance. The report found that he had instructed the military guards at Abu Ghraib to help set up conditions to "facilitate" interrogations knowing that "his instructions equated to physical abuse".

"Since the report, CACI has won more lucrative contracts with the Pentagon including one worth $US650 million ($906 million) announced just weeks after General Taguba's damning findings."

2. You can't really use the word "torture"
to describe what those prisoners went through. They were not forced to look at Bush while they were being "abused."

5. How does the BFEE think the rest of the world see this ?
.
.
.

Thousands of Iraqis "suspected" of nothing specific in jails in Iraq.

Hundreds of others "suspected" of nothing specific in Gitmo.

But a handful of their own with connections to a definite series of atrocious incidents are "free"??

That's just plain stupid.

They can do their "material witness" thing and keep them in custody until this is cleared up.

Although I expect it to get a lot "muddier" before they see the end of it.

The world is watching.

And judging.

7. He is sickened
But not actually sickened enough to take action, which is pretty sickening, when you think about it.

Of course he may be busy praying for the torturers souls right now, if you believe all the pious nonsense we hear about him.

8. Plausible Deniabilty Factor
Bushco can claim that they knew nothing about the systematic torture programs throughout their Prisons.

Congress gives Rumsfeld a walk. The Dems, except for a few, such as Rangle, Polosi, Conyers and Harkin, are their usual chickenshit selves.

9. He is sickened by
seeing his chance at being elected going down the toilet. That is the only thing he sees as being worth investing himself in. Saying you are "sorry" in essence that they were caught is not really an apology.

I am sickend :puke: bt the prospect of 4 mor years of this crap.

10. Dimbo Is Sickened By The 2745 Articles On Google News
And the few courageous people in the Armed Forces that managed to leak the story to embarrass "his" office.

This isn't going away anytime soon and the fact that Rush is broadcast in Iraq through the Armed Forces Radio Network won't help the situation there much.

Looks like Bush is going to have an even harder time getting through St. Peter.
