Miller on CNN right now

Answering the PRIME question as to WHY he recommended that the
military police become actively INVOLVED in intelligence collection.

Taguba was very critical of this asshole in his report. Miller shares
much of the blame for what happened (according to Taguba).

Miller is now in charge of both MP and MI operations at Abu Ghraib.

He is dancing around it... saying he DIDN'T recommend active involvement, only passive.

Now the follow up.

1. Catagorically denies that he recommended "active participation"

which, of course, is in direct conflict with the Taguba investigation
and the previous investigation.

Of course he HAS to deny that, because it would be against Army
regulations.

in charge.

New General, Old Methods at Iraq Prison

Banned" methods of prisoner interrogation were approved at the highest levels of US command. Methods authorized include so-called pain-inducing "stress positions" in which detainees are bound to stand or squat until they are unable to comply, or until they break.

The use of these techniques was confirmed in a press conference at the Pentagon. Although the spotlight Friday was on Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld’s testimony before Congress, the focus of the Abu Ghraib torture scandal has started to shift onto Major General Geoffrey Miller, the former commander of the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Miller left Guantanamo and was put in charge of Abu Ghraib prison, near Baghdad, after Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski was quietly sacked at the end of March. Gen. Janis Karpinski has not been charged in connection with the investigation.

She has subtly implied that Miller encouraged questionable practices by introducing his "Gitmo" (Guantanamo) prison practices into Iraq. She is reported to have said that Miller "Gitmo-ized" the Iraq system. The circumstances under which prisoners were interrogated in Cuba have been roundly criticized, especially in the foreign press.

14. Great article.

I know I should have Tivo'd his press conference this morning.

He just denied that in his visit in Aug of last year that he
recommended that the MPs brigades become "actively" involved
in "setting conditions that successfully exploit" internees.

And yet two Army internal investigations both highlighted this
as the new SOP after his visit... and that's when the abuses and
torture started. (And the "ghost detainees").

I'm now VERY SURE that his assignment to command Abu Ghraib was
the trigger that caused the Taguba report to be leaked to the press,
along with the sensational photos to make sure it got a lot of TV
coverage.

His suggestions were adopted by MI who later encouraged Grainer et al-- to smash some teeth, --- to get the RAG HEADS TO TALK.

25. I don't understand this. Why hasn't it been?
We all know how cybersavvy our troops are. We've read the reports that some of this stuff was used as screensavers.

So why why WHY hasn't it hit the internet? Why hasn't someone fed it to the media? Is Joe Darby the only honest man left in the U.S. military?

None of this smells right. It just stinks.

I just don't know what it stinks OF.

7. Miller needs to be replaced immediately
It is a blatant travesty of justice allowing this criminal to be in charge of the mess in Iraq.

I just hope some of the kids there are brave enough to come forward with the truth.

9. Why is this war criminal in charge of anything
After the Taguba report, this fucker should have been court martialed. Instead, he's being given complete control to desperately "cleanse" the problem.

Unbelievable.

ASSHOLES. Don't they F''ing realize that THIS is the guy... the first
question (after the Iraqi asked about compensation) just started to
to scratch the surface... but didn't pin this fucker down.

I want to see him and Gen Taguba and Gen Ryder plus all of the
colonels and so on down to the PFCs under oath with more than 5 minutes
and NO FUCKING grandstanding by the Senate or House members trying
to score political points.

We deserve THE TRUTH. We CAN handle the TRUTH.

This particular Fucktard is the current version of Col. Nathan
Jessup.

God, I'm so angry I can't type.

15. Yeah, but few of them left fingerprints

This MOFO did, both through a document trail and, likely, the
testimony of the SPCs and PFCs that they are going to hang (10
years in Leavenworth is my guess). And this guy will get a
promotion out of it because he "cleaned up" the mess (well, he
will at least have removed all of the digital cameras).

He should be the one facing a court martial.

19. Will try, and will post here if I find one.

I was so angry and typing so fast to the blog, I didn't even think
to Tivo the bastard. Both CNN and MSNBC carried him live for about
10 minutes.

Does anyone know if the Army puts up a transcript of the daily
briefings (too much to hope for, but ya never know).
