Europeans Like Bush Even Less Than Before
By SARAH LYALL

Published: May 9, 2004

LONDON, May 8 - Earlier this year, George Osborne, a Conservative member of Parliament, took a straw poll of some legislators from his party. The subject was President Bush. The results were not pretty.

"George Bush scares the hell out of me," one Tory said, according to an article by Mr. Osborne in The Spectator. Another told him: "Bush is a man who might wail at the moon. I don't feel comfortable with him." A third said that while he would vote for Bush in November if he could, "I think Anglo-American relations would be better if Kerry won."

<snip>

The Express, a British tabloid, for instance, ridiculed Mr. Bush's news conference last month in an article titled, "The President's Brain Is Missing," saying his performance had revealed him as a "bumbling embarrassment."

The paper printed a series of unflattering photographs showing Mr. Bush's various facial expressions after a reporter asked whether he had made mistakes since the Sept. 11 attacks. "In what was meant to be a rallying defense of the war," the caption read, "George Bush appears alternately flummoxed, panicked, forgetful and distant as he struggles to remember what he's been doing in Iraq for the past year."

1. to put it mildly
Even outspoken pro-war politicians made a 180, as their position got completely indefensible. So no more "Saddam's rockets might reach Munich", but "blind loyalty won't bring us anywhere" instead.

2. They have a right to be concerned.
Totally justified, in my opinion. After all, this man is the leader of the "free" world.

It's sort of like being kids in the back seat, watching Dad drive. Dad's run a couple of red lights, ran over a curb during that last turn. There's an odor coming from his breath, too. They eyes don't look 100% focused.

All eyes are focused on Dad as we start to climb the hill. There are some cliffs coming up. Uh-oh.

3. Which Europeans?
A lot of EU immigrants are the source of a lot of our discrimination policies and behaviors right now. They bring to this country their own hatereds, prejudices, and abhorant, sadistic, pedofilistic, and pornographic behaviors and mores because they can not only be "protected" by the US government but they can be rewarded by the government also. They take up residence, organize their crime groups, receive favored access to business and home ownership loans, tax breaks, and freedom to act as they please. Their money and white skins buy them the precious acceptance that is denied to many black, brown, red, and yellow native-born Americans. If you doubt my words, just check around in your own secure neighborhoods and learn who is living next to you.
You will find members of organized jewel theft rings, solid waste mangement scam contractors, drug smugglers and dealers, auto theft rings, sex slave markets, child pornography rings, and much more. Wake up people, your native born minorities are not your real problem...they are mostly victims and paid participants. Wake up and smell the real stench!

Flame me if you must, but the truth really does hurt.

4. What has this to do with hatred of Bush?
If you insist on hijacking a thread about Europeans, as in people who live in Europe, I think you ought to make clear whether you're talking about current immigration from EU countries, or past immigration (eg pre World War Two) from those countries. If you mean the past immigration, then obviously they make up the majority of the current US population, so might be said to be the 'source' of American discrimination; but why you characterize them as "EU immigrants" when the EU didn't exist then is unclear. If you're talking about post WW2 immigration, then I'd say they have not had a significant effect on American mores; such a diatribe as yours would need some documentation to be taken seriously.

By the way, it's 'hatreds', 'abhorrent', and 'pedophilic'.

It's not about hating Bush but it is about the forces that feed the money and power machine that keeps people like Bush and his gang in office. It's not just a simple matter of right vs left. It's about money, power, and bigorty.

8. Here's a search engine tip
You need to put inverted commas around a phrase you are looking for. Otherwise you end up getting hits for 'organized crime in america' discussed in the British Journal of Criminology, as you did. If you put the inverted commas around the phrases you searched for, the only one that returns any results is "Russian organized crime in America".

Another tip: Russia is not in the EU.

Let me know if you have some links, not dodgy searches.

6. This is a refreshing piece of news today.
"In poll after poll, Europeans have shown themselves to be fervently anti-Bush. In Britain, America's staunchest ally in the war in Iraq, a poll of 1,007 people taken last month for The Times of London by the British polling company Populus found support for Senator John Kerry over President Bush by a margin of 56 to 22 percent.

From America, a poll of people in nine nations conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press in March found that opinion of the president and, by extension, the United States, had plummeted across Europe since Mr. Bush took office.

In France, the poll found, the president had an 85 percent negative rating; in Britain, 57 percent; in Germany 85 percent; and in Russia, 60 percent."

Kerry can refer junior to other leaders in the world that does support Kerry and not junior.

14. MHO as a European....
I don´t care who is the president of the USA as long as his actions does not directly effect me - as is the case with the current bozo.

My fellow countrymen are risking their lives in Afghanistan as we speak in order to support what we believe was a justified intervention. I support that.

Now, this administrations desire and strive to turn every existing Muslim into a "terrorist" have a direct effect on me. How, by heightened security measures in my country, attacks on our constitutional rights such as privacy etc. by our own hawks etc. etc.

I don´t really care who wins this autumn, be it Kerry, Dean or what have you but I want to see a change in the administration.
