'Presidential hopeful' found mentally ill in harassment case

A Fayette County man who believes he will be the next president of the United States was found guilty but mentally ill for harassing the staff of Fayette County Children and Youth Services.
Ronald P. West Sr., 41, of Perryopolis, said Tuesday that he believes the verdict against him was fair.

"When I wrote those letters, I thought I was working for my country," he said. "I thought I was being patriotic. I can't control it."

He also wrote that he was a member of the CIA and was at war with the alleged members of the Soviet KGB in Fayette County.

For that and other alleged threats, West was charged with two counts of harassment by communication.

West said he still believes that he will be nominated by the GOP and win in 2008, when he believes President Bush will leave office.

At the very least he must be a close relative. If this is the criteria for sending people to jail and/or the looneybin, then the entire misadministration ought to be put in strait jackets.
