OK, so the situation in a nutshell is this: the GOP got its ass kicked when it ran Simon, so now they're going to use the recall process to get a second bite at the apple, hoping that their second-string candidate will be able to do what their first-string guy couldn't. (And, of course, all this is *totally* unrelated to ShrubCo's "turn a blind eye" approach during the rape of California by "Kenny Boy" Lay and his crooked, Republican-donating buddies ...)

Regardless, the question before us today is simple: what are Dems -- and all progressives -- going to *do* about it?

To put it another way:

How many states with GOP governors have recall processes?
What about state-level GOP senators and reps?
Or maybe GOP-backed members of the state-level judiciary?
What about officeholders at the federal level?

Seriously: if these right-wing nutjobs really want to start this fight, I think it's time we gave them a fight to remember.

Lastly, *if* they succeed in taking down Davis, we need to make it clear that the recall petition against Riorden will start circulating as soon as the sun rises on October 8th. No mercy, no compromise, no backing down.

They could spend a little more time covering the candidates who have declared they actually are running. There are at least 200 running. We have heard "Arnold is not running" repeated over and over again in the news about as often as we heard "Basra has fallen" during the Iraq war.
