Israeli link possible in US torture techniques

In exchange for interrogation training, did Washington award security contracts?

CHICAGO, Illinois: The head of the American defense contracting firm implicated in the torture of Iraqis at Abu Ghraib prison has close ties to Israel and visited an Israeli "anti-terror" training camp in the occupied West Bank earlier this year.

Jack London, chairman, president and CEO of CACI International Incorporated, traveled to Israel in January this year as part of a high-level delegation of US Congressmen, defense contractors and pro-Israel lobbyists, sponsored and paid for in part by the Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah, a pro-Israel lobbying and fundraising group, and Greenberg Traurig, LLP, a prominent Washington law and lobby firm.

The purpose of the visit, according to a CACI press release, was "to promote opportunities for strategic partnerships and joint ventures between US and Israeli defense and homeland security companies."

As one of the highlights of the visit, London was presented with the Albert Einstein Technology Award by Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz at a gala dinner at Jerusalem city hall, for "achievements in the field of defense and national security."

6. There were several stories at the beginning of the war
about how the Israelis were helping to train U.S. soldiers for Iraq.

This is not to blame Israel, but the people within our government & theirs, who practice occupation.

Mofaz: Gaza is not the land of our forefathers
By GIL HOFFMAN

In a possible preview of the next Likud leadership race, Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz have emerged as the top adversaries on the makeup of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's next diplomatic plan.

The two, who consistently finish first and second in polls among Likud members and the population as a whole, sharpened their points of view on Sunday on the future diplomatic moves Sharon should make.

Netanyahu made clear in his meeting with Sharon that he will not permit him to regurgitate his unilateral disengagement plan following its landslide defeat in last week's Likud referendum.

He told Sharon that he does not need to hurry to come up with a new plan as long as there is no partner on the Palestinian side. ~snip~

Contractor: Army Happy With Interrogators

ARLINGTON, Va. - The chief executive of a defense contractor that provides civilian interrogators to the scandal-ridden Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq said the Army is pleased with its work and that its employees fully understand they are under military authority.

"It's been reported to us that we're doing a fine job. That's from our customer (the Army), and those are the people who count," J.P. "Jack" London said Monday in a telephone interview.

One of CACI International Inc.'s interrogators was criticized in an internal Army report for helping to facilitate the physical and sexual abuse documented against detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison.

5. This part really made me
want to puke. :puke:

As one of the highlights of the visit, London was presented with the Albert Einstein Technology Award by Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz at a gala dinner at Jerusalem city hall, for "achievements in the field of defense and national security."

Albert Einstein, life long pacifist and gentle soul, is rolling over in his grave.

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has
been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This
disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless
brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder." -- Albert Einstein
