General to testify on abuse probe
General to testify on abuse probe

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- With the Army general who investigated abuse of prisoners in Iraq set to testify before a Senate committee Tuesday, Pentagon sources told CNN there are 200 to 300 more photographs of abuse at Abu Ghraib prison.

Army Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba, author of a leaked internal report on abuses at U.S.-run prisons in Iraq, is scheduled to be the first witness when a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee convenes at 9:30 a.m. (Full story)

The Senate voted 92-0 Monday for a resolution "condemning the abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison urging a full and complete investigation."

The Pentagon sources said officials also are investigating an allegation that three soldiers took a female detainee to an isolated area, and while one stood guard, the other two attempted to fondle and kiss her until another soldier caught them.

2. Aloha. Googled it up. Appears to be in Honolulu.
On the island of Oahu, for those who are unfamiliar with the Hawaiian Islands.

We visited Kauai and the more developed Maui, except for time we spent in Hana, last month only passing through the airport in Honolulu. We hope someday to visit the big island.

14. You're Kidding?
I grew up in Halawa, Kalihi, and Kailua, was born in Honolulu at Kapiolani Hospital.

My mother's side is from Hawaii, my dad is from Nebraska.

I had a girlfriend that went to Leileihua, that and my son attended high school before we moved to Arizona.

6. U.S. General: No Orders Given on Abusing Inmates
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Army general who investigated the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners by the U.S. military testified on Tuesday he never found any orders to soldiers directing them to use abusive techniques on inmates.

At a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, West Virginia Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd, questioning Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba, said the abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison was not just about guards and interrogators lacking in personal values, but "about policies and planning" from a higher level.

Byrd asked Taguba, "Who gave the order to soften up these prisoners, to 'give them the treatment?' Was this policy? Who approved it?"

"I did not find any evidence of a policy or a direct order given to these soldiers to conduct what they did," Taguba replied.

9. speaking about Karpinski's comment "about the new procedure"
Pappas is being implicated now for the new procedure, he was the MI officer in charge at the time.

Pappas reported to CJTF7, isn't that Sanchez?

10. She also pulled in Miller.
She thought through this matter more carefully than apparently most of her colleagues.

11. Taguba is already being smeared by the right
Newsmax is running a story about Taguba being bitter and resentful.

Face it, there is no one they won't crucify to protect their power.
