Senator (Inhofe) 'Outraged by Outrage' at Prison Abuse
HERE IS AN ACTUAL STORY FOR THE DISGUSTING COMMENTS MADE BY INHOFE

As others condemned the reported abuse of Iraqi prisoners, U.S. Sen. James Inhofe on Tuesday expressed outrage at the worldwide outrage over the treatment by American soldiers of those he called "terrorists" and "murderers."

"I'm probably not the only one up at this table that is more outraged by the outrage than we are by the treatment," the Oklahoma Republican said at a U.S. Senate hearing probing the scandal.

"These prisoners, you know they're not there for traffic violations," Inhofe said. "If they're in cellblock 1-A or 1-B, these prisoners, they're murderers, they're terrorists, they're insurgents. Many of them probably have American blood on their hands and here we're so concerned about the treatment of those individuals."

Coalition military intelligence officers estimated that about 70 percent to 90 percent of the thousands of prisoners detained in Iraq had been "arrested by mistake," according to a report by Red Cross given to the Bush administration last year and leaked this week...

"I am also outraged that we have so many humanitarian do-gooders right now crawling all over these prisons looking for human rights violations, while our troops, our heroes are fighting and dying," he said...

and since there were no trials and no legal representation we can't know that.

19. Well, that, and the question of how he would react to OUR soldiers
being abused like that by THEIR leaders.

Oh wait, we know how Rumsfield would react. He was outraged that pictures of our POWs were aired by al-Jazeera at the beginning of the war. He claimed it was a violation of Geneva because they were humiliated by being put on TV. I believe that their captors' term for OUR soldiers was "murderers," too.

Thankfully, most Iraqi insurgents SO FAR have treated their prisoners better than we've treated ours. Of course, thanks to people like Inhofe, that will now likely change.

That's in the future --- they're arriving onto our soil in fairly great numbers --- I'm sure soon we'll be forced to fight them right on USA soil --- either fight or live under their rule.

3. My e mail to Seantor Inhofe: feel free to copy and send to him too.
I have heard your comments today about the excessive outrage over the abuse outrage.

Mr. Inhofe, either you are a pervert or an idiot. You should resign after apologizing for the stupidity of your comments.

You are the OUTRAGE. Disgusting and your comments at the hearing were the height of stupidity.

I AM OUTRAGED BY YOU!!!

My message to the senator...

You're the outrage, you Nazi asshole.

Ever hear of the Geneva Conventions? Remember, YOU are the one endangering our troops, should they be captured by the Iraqi resistance and they remember your shameful words.

You are a disgrace to humanity, you stupid fool. You support imperialism and war crimes. You will not go to your grave with a clean conscience, that's for sure.

Our founding fathers would spit on someone like you.

20. Inhofe is scheduled to see Nurse England this afternoon for a butt
hole check, and forming at the mouth. She will proceed to give Inholfe a distemper shot and put the schmuck in a cage along with Jeff Sessions, Wayne Allard, Jim Talent, and John Corny and John Warner, all naked of course.

After many beatings and dog attacks, Nurse Lynndie England will see who can get hard first.

82. Alda starred in the TV series 'M.A.S.H.' Vienam Syndrome stopped with it.
Edited on Wed May-12-04 02:25 AM by JohnOneillsMemory
The American TV series was a long-running smash hit that typified American's anti-war sentiments resulting from the grueling Vietnam War. It first aired in Sept. '72.

It wasn't long after the last episode was watched by 105 million Americans in Feb. '83 that mass murder was once again considered to be a useful means of implementing US foreign policy.

US actions in Granada, Panama, and Libya helped to abate this Military-Industrial Complex frustration and bring Americans back to accepting brute force as the primary tool used to obtain US interests.

The cultural disdain for war of the seventies was known as 'Vietnam Syndrome.' It was methodically 'cured' during the Reagan/Bush years and this has brought us full circle back to the Vietnamization of Iraq.

I'd think the Busheviks had Alan Alda hidden away at Gitmo Bay if I hadn't seen him doing science shows on PBS.

16. Inhofe is anti-American and anti-human rights.
What about due process? What about protection from cruel and unusual punishment? What about simple things like investigations and trials?

According to Inhofe, you don't need any of that!

This is the Bush autocracy and self-righteousness philosophy carried to its natural and ghastly conclusion. Just as Bush claimed that there was no reason to question the fairness or accuracy of the court and execution system in Texas (!), Inhofe seems to be implying that anyone so much as PICKED UP in Iraq is not only guilty, but guilty of the worst of crimes, and deserves to be treated in a cruel and humiliating fashion.

What about the guy who was picked up merely for riding in a cab with a driver who had weapons in his trunk? According to Inhofe, he's fair game.

The other Oklahoma senator, Don Nickels (R), is no prize, but he's retiring. Would that it were Inhofe instead!

and that's saying a lot!

In addition to his certain Top Ten nomination for this ludicrous idiocy, Oklahoma's Inhofe has somehow managed to earn the enmity of Native Hawaiians, by (it is believed) putting a "hold" on the "Akaka bill", which would grant Hawaiians Federal recognition on a similar basis to that enjoyed by Indian tribal nations.

Or Goering. Or the thousand other Nazi war criminals from WWII.

But Goering, Hitler's #2 man, though he was doubtless responsible for many, many more American's lives than anyone at this prison, was never raped, beaten, or photographed naked.

Same with the Japanese war criminals responsible for the Bataan Death March and other major war crimes.

That used to be the difference between civilized countries and uncivilized ones. We follow the Geneva Convention and hold the moral high ground.

If bush* doesn't want it to happen again, assuming that he really cares that it happened the first time, then he should dump on Inhofe from a huge height. It's just the leadership thing to do. Inhofe's remarks have now flashed around the world, so bush*'s censure of Inhofe has got to be done very publically.

bush* will do nothing of course because he likes losing.

58. INHOFE is some kind of a piece of work
They is always one or two of these guys on these committees. They use the attention they are getting to cast out a completely oblique idological rant. Clearly what he said was totally unaligned and contradicted the facts of the case. It is simply a reminder that there are dangerous people in high places.

65. If only this were true...
""I'm probably not the only one up at this table that is more outraged by the outrage than we are by the treatment," the Oklahoma Republican said at a U.S. Senate hearing probing the scandal."

Is Mr. Inhofe saying that we let murderers, terrorists, and insurgents become Iraqi police officers. Oklahoma, I pray for you.

70. Here's my email to the asshole.
Sir. In regards to your comments this morning regarding the systematic abuse in Iraqi prisons, you stated that "these prisoners, they're not there for traffic violations. If they're in cell block 1A or 1B, these prisoners, they're murderers, they're terrorists, they're insurgents, and many of them probably have American blood probably on their hands and here we're so concerned about the treatment of those individuals."
I see that President Bush isn't the only Republican who cannot be bothered with such minutae as reading the newspaper, keeping up with current events, or facts. May I remind you that according to the Red Cross, as many as 70 to 90 percent of the Iraqi detainees have been innocent of any acts of agression against America? Further, at least one of the detainees was, in fact, "there for traffic violations". According to the Associated Press,"One former detainee who claims he was abused, Haider Sabbar Abed, said he was arrested in July when the driver of the car he was in was unable to produce proper papers at a U.S. checkpoint. He was not released until April 15." Although I am not a resident of your fine state, I demand an immediate public retraction of your blatantly false assertions.

Rgds.

71. If they're no like us, they're against us.
Now CNN, FOX, MSNBC all say "Isn't he right". All the cable news media, especially Snow on FOX, are now using the gruesome beheading of Berg as confirmation that Inhofe is right to show no mercy to our enemies. This has finally evolved into a completely religious/ethnic war. If they're no like us, they're against us.

72. Josh Marshall: McCain walked out during Inhofe's statements.
....according to CNN.

.....Of course, according to American military intelligence officers who spoke with the ICRC, 70% to 90% of the detainees in Iraq were there by mistake.

Another example of how liberal democracy can't be spread by the most illiberal elements in American society.

According to CNN, McCain walked out during Inhofe's statement.

anybody that voted for this piece of trash has my disgust.

I saw this dickwad saying pretty much the same venom on Hardball last week, and I will remember it always.

Ignorance and hatred, the hallmarks of the Republican party.

That's why we are welcoming our newest member, Joe Leiberman. (check out the DU thread on his R status!)

81. Inhofe logic: Saddam torturers BAD, American torturers GOOD.
So by not killing these prisoners during torture, this makes the US better than Saddam because we didn't kill them and put them in mass graves. Wow! Our degree of evil wasn't/isn't nearly as bad as Saddam's was. Inhofe makes me feel like :puke: He's obviously not intelligent enough to understand that the US didn't live up to our own ideals and laws but he can still find a way to excuse it though! What a sick motherfucker! :puke: He's just part of the right-wing excuse spin machine at work!

My words of wisdom to Senator Inhofe:

Enjoy your mean little life while you can, because Satan's got a special place at the bottom of a homoerotic dogpile of naked evangelical political leaders for you, you boot-licking Nazi shitball.
