Mahdi Army seizes US weapons
Mahdi Army seizes US weapons
Tuesday 11 May 2004

Members of al-Sadr's Mahdi Army in Najaf say they have seized ammunition and weapons, including a missile launcher and machineguns, belonging to the US army.

In a videotape obtained by Aljazeera and aired on Monday, masked men showed the cache of weapons seized.

It is unclear how many weapons were in their possession.

The masked armed men also confirmed they clashed with an occupation patrol at a bridge in Kufa on Tuesday, injuring a number of US soldiers and damaging three military vehicles.

7. It's not about the kids:
It's about 4 more years. I can not state with enough emphasis how much I loathe bush.

18. Usually I Would Agree With You,...
however in this case it's a pretty safe bet. They wouldn't even get it off of the ground. I will say this though, the Saudi Royal Air-Force has lot's of American made gear. One or two disgruntled pilots sneaking across the border could spell trouble, but the odds are still pretty long.

20. They had a few capable fliers on 9/11. How ridiculous can we be?
We still think that we are so superior that Islamics would be too stupid to know what to do with our weapons. Same thing Russia thought about Afghanistan...what do a few 'rag-head' warlords know? Well, they knew enough to bring down the entire USSR. It wasn't Reagan's tough talk or anything that the US really did...it was a long, protacted, illegal invasion and war that finally broke and brought the USSR to its knees.
The arrogance of feeling superior.

23. Probably But Flying Russian Gear...
is another world compared to all the hi-tech gear in an American built aircraft. Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily think that our stuff is superior because of it. They are just worlds apart in how they are operated.

9. I have to add, it does seem fishy

He was an American, apparently held by Americans (or whoever was in control, I assume "coalition" approval), while his parents were questioned by the FBI, then he's killed by terrorists the day after he's released?

10. your average bank robber or your average SWAT cop
remember when they were looking for John Malvo the sniper a couple years back. I recall seeing photos of swat teams with with black face masks. I haven't seen pictures of this, but my question would be are they full cover skimasks these insurgents are wearing or are they wearing cloths over their faces?

Also, would like to see the garb the Arabs are wearing . . . is it authentic? Can the English the guards / murderers are using be heard?

15. True - Berg is in an orange jump suit; No english by guards
is spoken on the film; Guards' headgear FULLY covering guards faces is a mixture of balclavas and scarves; at least one guard possibly two are wearing "nike" style running shoes

21. If you look at the first frames
were he is seated. The suit has short-sleeves and a V-neck. Not a jump suit, could be a loose fitting shirt and pants, like the ones worn in hot countries. There was no zipper going all the way down the chest to the crotch.

It bothers me too
Edited on Tue May-11-04 04:17 PM by notadmblnd
Isn't it customary when someone is released to be given their street clothes back? Isn't the purpose of orange jumpsuits to identify someone dressed in that manner on the streets as an escapee? Thhis leads me to ask the question, who runs the prisons in Iraq? Come let us don our tinfoil hats.:tinfoilhat:

13. Definitely a propaganda tool
From Yahoo.com

The Bergs last heard from their (beheaded) son (Nick) April 9, when he said he would come home by way of Jordan, Turkey or Kuwait. But by then, hostilities in Iraq had escalated.

Suzanne Berg on Tuesday said she was told her son's body would be transported to Kuwait and then to Dover, Del. She said the family had been trying for weeks to learn where their son was but that federal officials had not been helpful.

...Berg's family said Tuesday they knew their son had been decapitated, but didn't know the details of the killing...

We don't know how long ago the beheading took place. So it's entirely possible that this story was sat upon until the right moment--when a weapon of mass distraction was needed from the Iraqi prisoner scandal.

Makes sense to me. And I guarantee there will be NO NO NO autopsy report indicating how long that poor young man has been dead.

11. The military-industrial complex is happy. This theft means more $$ for
them when Bush orders Congress to cough up the bucks for more weapons for our soldiers.
