Mainline Christian churches want UN to take over Iraq
The nation's largest association of mainline Protestant and Orthodox Christian churches said Tuesday that U.S. policy in Iraq has become so destructive the United Nations should take over.

Separately, bishops of the United Methodist Church, which claims President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney as members, said the war has led to the "denigration of human dignity."

2. Bush didn't listen to the Pope why should he listen to his own church

Bush gets his marching orders directly from God nightly as he gets down on his knees. At least a recent letter to the editor writer has told me so.

4. Too late. The UN won't play with Bush*.
These day late and a dollar short Christians might as well wait for Godot as expect the UN to save Bush*'s ass.

7. Perhaps. But if this gets repeated on Sundays, from pulpits -
Then perhaps the UN won't have to play with Junior, come November.

6. Most ot them did not give support to Bush before this debacle of invasion
and now they want the un to take over.

He has esttablished his own religion over and above that of the "mainline" Christian relligions and they could not stop it

I wonder why not.

Obviously he has taken over the beliefs of the Christians and attempts to define their religions for them

and if they do not agree with his theology, they will NOT get the faith based government welfare money.

and, I would think that many will prostitute themselves out to the government in order to get the money, especially since we are headed to times where people do not have the jobs, therefore not the money to contribute to their local church.

cult. Real Christians would NEVER support the usage of LIES to support a CRIMINAL/IMMORAL action such as a pre-emptive war in Iraq!

10. Where were the mainline christian churches
Edited on Tue May-11-04 05:30 PM by The_Casual_Observer
when the invasion/genocide was going down? Did they form a protest?
Did they condemn it?

Great advice, now that the UN wouldn't touch this with a 10' RPG launcher.

13. All these churches were against the invasion from the beginning.
The only denomination that officially supported the invasion was the Southern Baptists.
