General Who Made Anti-Islam Remark Tied to POW Case
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&e=2&u=/nm/20040511/ts_nm/iraq_abuse_general_dc

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Army general under investigation for anti-Islamic remarks has been linked by U.S. officials to the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal, which experts warned could touch off new outrage overseas.

A Senate hearing into the abuse of Iraqi prisoners was told on Tuesday that Lt. Gen. William Boykin, an evangelical Christian under review for saying his God was superior to that of the Muslims, briefed a top Pentagon (news - web sites) civilian official last summer on recommendations on ways military interrogators could gain more intelligence from Iraqi prisoners.

Critics have suggested those recommendations amounted to a senior-level go-ahead for the sexual and physical abuse of prisoners, possibly to "soften up" detainees before interrogation -- a charge the Pentagon denies.

Congressional aides and Arab-American and Muslim groups said any involvement by Boykin could spark new concern among Arabs and Muslims overseas the U.S. war on terrorism is in fact a war on Islam.

Interesting.

1. If this were not ruining the world, everybody's lives, and generally
mucking up everything for generations to come, it would be the most amazing pseudo-fiction story. All the lies, all the weirdos, all the cartoonish men and women, all the fundamentalists, a loony president that hears voices but cannot read...

2. This administration is raising incompetance to a whole new level!
I guess we should expect it when hard right-wingers control govt, and start appointing hard-right-wingers to military academies.

19. I don't mean the faculties.
I mean the academy appointments themselves. If some kid wants to go to West Point, he needs a congressional recommendation in most cases. If that congressman happens to be a right-wing conservative Christian, he's not going to recommend an atheist ACLU supporter.

The US military officer corps is very much dominated by the right wing nowadays. Officers probably vote 9-1 GOP. It's no coincidence.

8. It would never get published.
It would be considered way to outlandish and unrealistic. We literally could not make this stuff up.

I'm sick of their holier than thou hypocrisy. They make atheists look like choir boys. They beat their women and children and call themselves "good" for doing it.

20.  "They make atheists look like choir boys."
Yeah, you gotta be careful of those roving gangs of atheists. Sheesh. The problem isn't atheists. The problem here is the freaking choir boys, with Boykin as soloist and W as choir director.

Rumsfeld and the 'beastly' Boykin
By Ramtanu Maitra

Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee on May 7, US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld apologized to the Iraqi families for the abuse of detainees by US troops at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad. Rumsfeld also took responsibility for the abuses since they occurred while he was head of the Pentagon.

However, it is likely that an apology might not be enough to get Rumsfeld off the hook, and it could be a matter of perhaps a very short time before his administrative career comes to an end. But behind Rumsfeld's apologies lies an attempt to cover up a controversial character hired by him to pin down the "interrogation" process: Lieutenant-General William "Jerry" Boykin, a Christian fundamentalist and no lover of Muslims.

The 'beast-man'
The Washington-based Executive Intelligence Review, a political and economic weekly, has long pointed out that the determination and ruthlessness of the Bush administration, expressed particularly since September 11, was orchestrated by what it described as a few "beast-men" who, as the word suggests, have no hesitation in acting like beasts. One person characterized as such was Boykin.

Boykin is the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense Intelligence under Stephen Cambone, a personal friend of Rumsfeld and one who has the defense secretary's ears. The presence of Cambone as Boykin's boss has previously helped Rumsfeld avoid questions surrounding alleged mistreatment of prisoners in Afghanistan and Iraq, and even of Muslim prisoners in general.

It's so sad these way-off-center people are ruining our country and our world. It seems like a wave of wackos in charge.

Who said Yeah-way appointed shrub to run our country. You can be sure he will always have job security. He also said we're not fighting Bin Laden, we are fighting the devil. No wonder he never found bin laden when he was in charge of finding him in Afghanistan.
He was looking for a smelly goat-horned dude with a tail instead.

13. What are they still investigating?
Boykin's been under investigation since last October for making anti-Islam remarks at a church, in uniform, and on videotape. In the Bush administration, "under investigation" means they label an empty folder and stick it in the back of the filing cabinet.

By the way, Lt. Gen. Boykin's official title is Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. It's amazing it took the media this long to -- dare I say it -- connect the dots....

14. Gen. Boykin must be familiar with the culture of the Defense Intelligence
Agency as well as US Army intelligence, this is a culture largely shaped by Col. Michael Aquino, a Church of Satan priest that replaced the Church of Satan with his own cult/religion the Temple of Set in 1975 while on active duty.

Michael Aquino and his wife, Lillith, were implicated in The Presidio molestation case but never charged. So in addition to Nazis and organized crime we can add satanists/setians to the list of what is in the bowels of the national security community.

Col. Aquino did, and still does influence US military intelligence.

15. whoever said it above is right, we couldn't make this
stuff up if we tried.

That is tragic about the "temple of set". If I remember correctly, au set or ua zit was an ancient egyptian god or goddess.

It drives me crazy when people differentiate satanism from christianity. Satan is a Christian god, and satanism is as much a branch of christianity as the baptist or methodist sects.

People in the U.S. don't care if some right wing Bush supporter likes to promote the rape of little kids and torture of civilians?

What about outrage inside the U.S.?
