<LITTLE ROCK - Touting his military service and patriotism, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry told a cheering crowd of more than 700 people here Wednesday the 2004 race for the White Office "was the most important election of our lifetime.
"I ask you to do for me what you did for that son of Arkansas, Bill Clinton. Help us restore our country, help us take back our democracy, help us build our future," said the Massachusetts senator.
Kerry, with retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark and two Arkansans who served with Kerry in Vietnam at his side, also criticized the Bush administration's handling of the war in Iraq.
"We are stronger when we don't go it alone," said Kerry. "We cannot succeed in Iraq by military might alone."
Immediately after taking the podium with prominent Democrats such as former Arkansas senators David Pryor and Dale Bumpers in the crowd, Clark introduced Kerry as a decorated Vietnam veteran and a true patriot who was unafraid to answer the calls for war.
"Can you imagine having a president who actually answered the call and went to war when his country needed him? That's John Kerry," Clark said, taking a stab at Bush.>
