Rumsfeld confident of new countries joining coalition in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AFP) - Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told US troops he was confident that additional countries would contribute troops to the US-led coalition in Iraq.

"If we can get another UN Security Council resolution which we believe we can, it would assist in getting ... one or two handfuls of countries that could contribute troops. That would be a very good thing," he said.

He said the United States was currently in discussions with other countries, but did not want to name them.

12. Not Really
Maybe this is why Bush is asking for more leeway with the $25 billion he just asked for.

In order to bribe someone you need money, and if you get to decide how the money is used...

I don't think I need to say anything else.

14. Hey, LittleApple: Check this out:
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&storyID=511859...

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - U.S. hopes that NATO would agree at its Istanbul summit next month to take a greater role in stabilizing Iraq have evaporated, diplomats and analysts say.

Worsening violence in occupied Iraq, the prisoner abuse scandal, dismay at U.S. Middle East policy, Spain's decision to withdraw its forces and military "overstretch" in Afghanistan have combined to make any prospect of the 26-nation alliance taking on greater responsibility remote.

But Gordon, speaking at the Transatlantic Center think-tank in Brussels, said there was now no prospect of NATO taking a bigger role before November's U.S. presidential election.

"The last thing the Europeans want to do is come to the June summit and allow George W. Bush to preside over the alliance as a great leader," he said. "It is unimaginable that the Europeans will go to Istanbul and give Bush whatever he wants."

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Apparently published AS HE WAS SPEAKING

Rummy really has gone over the edge. What's scarier is that apparently the Bush administration hasn't figured it out!!

Yeah, he's flipped out"

Oh hell, who's gonna tell George??

45. Sorta reminds me of Hitler in his bunker , spring '45
He was sending out orders to divisions that didn't exist anymore; sending messages to generals who were already dead. No one could bring themself to tell Adolph that it was all over. This is Rummy and George; they think that it's still possible. They are pathetic losers, in the very early throes of hangover or dimentia - slobbering and shouting and gesturing to thin air. If they weren't murdering people in the process, it would almost be funny.
