Just one day into his campaign for governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger is
being
called a liar, Hollywood opportunist and con man.
And that’s just by fellow Republicans.
Schwarzenegger bungled his television announcement on the Tonight Show Aug. 6 by
burning one of his supposed closest allies, former LA Mayor Richard Riordan.
Riordan was
reportedly “stunned” that Schwarzenegger announced on TV after giving Riordan
indications
he would not enter the race.
Schwarzenegger claimed that he and Riordan agreed to maintain suspense, which a
Riordan aide disputed in no uncertain terms http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-me-media7aug07,1,6506478.story].
"This idea that
we have worked together, keeping people guessing and all this for the last few
weeks is
," the Riordan advisor said, adding that he knew what it was like to get
mugged.

1. Great News!
On a really bad day. The Dumb-o-crats seem to be falling all over themselves to screw this one up--our only hope is that the Repukes eat their own.

swartzennegar is just the latest goof (reagan, geebush1 and of course cheney's prick) to show us what the 'kleptocracy' think of the public, and the vote, democracy, the constitution, the USA, humanity etc.....

6. I'm depressed over this, it's the only thing to knock
the Kobe case off the t.v. screen. I know it has all been said before, but it is sickening how much coverage this is getting. BBC even covered it last night. It's definitely vomit-worthy.

He seemed absolutely awful and unprepared in his speech last night. It amazes me that the American public will give someone a political office just because they are public figure, an entertainer (I know, Reagan, enough said).

I really expected him to sound more intelligent and with it in this speech last night, just to prove that he might be, well, qualified or something.

And the jokes the talking heads are making..."total recall", etc. This is going to be unbearable.

7. The biggest muscle in this guy's body is his brain.
The Terminator act will wear thin real fast. The famous movie-line bit will take him so far. Today at his press conference, for example, he said his solution to the state's fiscal problems is neither raising taxes nor cutting services, but -- are you ready -- bringing more business into California. Now isn't that brilliant? Just elect Arnold and he will invite more business into the Golden State and they will come. With jobs that pay just lots and lots of money. Oh boy. Someone please tell him the reason business does not want to locate there is BECAUSE of its fiscal crisis. Simply minds come to simple-minded solutions.

9. Arnold did not burn Riordan
Riordan has endorsed Arnold, and he is the one that encouraged Arnold to run.

Freepers are angry that Issa dropout and they hate Arnold because he is to the left of Lieberman.

12. Riordan is PISSED
There are plenty of stories on the news here in LA about it. Riordan was in the process of getting a team together because Arnold told him he would not run. Many of Riordan supporters in LA are just as mad too.

This whole Arnold-mania will die down. One of my co-workers that supports the re-call thinks that Arnold is an ass and that there is no one running worth supporting. His only picks were Riordan and Fienstein. Let's hope more Republicans feel the same.

15. No, that's the media's frenzy quoting some unnamed aids
On the Tweety show it was confirmed that Riordan had endorsed Arnold and that he was happy with his friend running for Governor.

10. I can't believe that he's been taking seriously in the U.S.A....
Hello from Germany,
is this the revenge for the career of - oops - David Hasselhof in Germany? I just can tell you that the last political leader WE have imported from Austria wasn't a huge success. Although Schwarzi looks as if he would have been escaped from one of Hitlers Frankenstein-Labs as a failed example for the new masterrace. I just have to see him or watch like he tries to move at least some milimeters of his face and raise his robot-voice to fall off my chair. Would he be the first US governor with a face-lifting?
Please tell me all of this is a bad bad joke,
Dirk

11. We're very, very sorry about Hasselhoff
We didn't know he could sing, or we would have tried harder to keep him from escaping.

But, at least Hasselhoff never ran for office in Germany...:)

17. Hah!
Darrell Issa must me whining his little ass off along with all the other RW prig wannabes. Anything that pisses those guys off pleases me no end.

Arnold is a funny duck, politically. He sponsored an initiative here in CA that was quite progressive. It was an after school program. He's pro choice and is married to a member of the Kennedy clan. Hardly a Gingrich Repug.

I have no idea why he is a Republican. I hope this splinters the Republican vote and the Dems unite behind Bustamante. Actually, I hope the Recall fails because Davis was elected and is not guilty of any criminal act and should just serve out his term.

19. Ahnold's initiative
My limited understanding of that after-school thing is that it has siphoned money from other school programs and that the money is locked up somewhere for some sort of beaurocratic reasons, and can't be used for other more urgent things, like keeping teachers from being laid off.
