AP - Powell Scolds Aide After Talk Show Interview Interrupted
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGAMXM5EBUD.html

WASHINGTON (AP) - Secretary of State Colin Powell chastised a press aide for trying to cut short the taping of a television interview Sunday.

Powell, speaking from Jordan, was listening to a final question from moderator Tim Russert, who was in the Washington studio of NBC's "Meet the Press."

In the broadcast, aired several hours after the interview was conducted, Powell abruptly disappears from view. Briefly seen are swaying palm trees and the water, backdrops for the interview.

Powell can be heard saying to the aide, "He's still asking a question." The secretary then told Russert, "Tim, I'm sorry I lost you." snip

She said Powell aide Emily Miller called right after the taping to "express her displeasure" that the interview ran long. Fischer also said Powell called Russert a few hours later to apologize.

3. The attitude matches:

That's how I felt watching Majority Whip Tom DeLay suddenly morph into a champion of protest marches and civil disobedience. "This was not a threatening band of armed thugs," said DeLay spokesperson Emily Miller, referring to the raucous demonstrators who stormed the Miami-Dade elections department. "They were idealistic, enthusiastic, young Republicans who felt they were being shut out."

Sounds like a natural born camera-turner to me.

8. One of DeLay's staffers is identified in that Florida brouhaha
If you watch the Documentary "Unprecedented: the 2000 Presidential Election", the filmmakers freeze the image during the fascist shut down and identify "the demonstrators" by name and affiliation; there are many Congressional staffers there, and at least one of them in the FG is DeLay's.

This is a must-see for any conscientious citizen.

6. This was too damn funny!

For those of you who missed the airing of Meet the Press, catch later tonight, I think on MSNBC. I think they rebroadcast it.

Kudos to NBC for not editing out that incident. Obviously Emily works closely with Rove to make sure everyone toes the line.

7. I'm not a big Powell fan...
As I believe he knowingly lied to us when he was pumping the WMD excuse for war. In todays interview, he said that at the time he was convinced Iraq had WMD, but that today they know the info to be unreliable.

BUT, in his interview today, he was a champ when he ordered the camera to be turned back to him so he could finish the interview. In the same situation, Chimpy would probably claim he couldn't hear the last question and run off.
