100 days later, (R)Janklow released from jail

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Former congressman and governor Bill Janklow left jail Monday, 100 days after he began serving his sentence for an accident that killed a motorcyclist.

Janklow, carrying a large accordion file under one arm and a brown grocery bag in the other, walked out of the jail, past a crowd of reporters, and left in a vehicle driven by a longtime friend.

"We love you, man," family friend Matt Rost yelled as Janklow walked outside. Janklow hugged another who complimented him on his obvious weight loss while incarcerated.

A jury in Janklow's hometown of Flandreau convicted him in December of speeding, running a stop sign, reckless driving and second-degree manslaughter for an Aug. 16 accident that killed Randy Scott of Hardwick, Minn.

Former U.S. Rep. Bill Janklow (R-SD), who was convicted December 8, 2003, of second-degree manslaughter and three other counts related to a traffic crash that claimed the life of a Minnesota motorcyclist, was sentenced today to 100 days in the Minnehaha County Jail.


I would labor to guess that Janklow didn't even lose his pension...

Not quite as murderous and brutal, to be fair to the Imperial Family, but almost equally (though not quite...YET...sunk so low) Double-Standardized.

Admittedly, if Janklow was a friend of Stalin, Hitler, or Ferd Marcos, he wouldn't have done a DAY of prison.

So the Busheviks are still better than Grandpa Prescott's Business Partners, the Nazis, for at least the immediate future.

Hooray.

And "The convictions will be erased from (Janklow's) record if he complies with terms of the sentence"; i.e. if he successfully completes probation.

One law for the Rethug rich. Another law for the rest of us.

If Scott's family shot Janklow dead, I'd understand. Part of the social contract is that we give up our right to take justice into our own hands -- in return for the law delivering justice instead. And giving a murderer 100 days in jail, plus a clean record after probation is not justice.

They are now filing suit against Janklow. Hope they clean out his bank account and Janklow has to live amongst us "lowlifes". But somehow, I doubt it. In fact, rumor has it that Janklow is leaving South Dakota. Wonder if he'll get a cushy job in Washington DC with the regime?

Don’t take solace in the hope that the family’s law suit will hurt Janklow. It was determined that Janklow was on fed. biz when he murdered Scott (a Vietnam Vet).

As such, any money that is awarded to the Scott family will come out of taxpayers’ pockets, not Janklow's.

So the plan to hit Janklow where it hurts him the most (his bank accounts) has been wrecked.

Why we continue to put up with this shit is beyond me.

Mr. tough on crime O'Reilly never did one story on the Janklow case. Then last night
he does a segment on a former Democratic Governor who had sex with a minor.

So if you are a republican you can run a stop sign while speeding and kill a guy, yet
not get one mention on the factor. But if you are a Democrat and you have sex with
a minor you get a full segment on it.

And O'Reilly still claims to be an objective independent journalist.

I can see the charge being bargained down to manslaughter. But 100 days? Geezus H. Christ. Some sleazy justice going on in South Dakota.

They're all tough on crime when it's someone lighting up a joint, then no sentence is harsh enough.

I'll bet ya dollars to donuts this guy resented every minute he spent behind bars. Three months for taking another human life, what a disgrace.
