Offshoring of U.S. Jobs Said Accelerating

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- New figures on offshore outsourcing suggest that American companies are sending even more white-collar jobs to low-wage countries such as India, China and Russia than researchers originally estimated.

Roughly 830,000 U.S. service-sector jobs -- ranging from telemarketers and accountants to software engineers and chief technology officers -- will move abroad by the end of 2005, according to a report released Monday by Forrester Research Inc.

1. This is a big campaign issue. Kerry needs to push this in the forefront!

My husband and I have been counseling his daughters on career paths lately. We now encourage them to pursue a career that they'd not only enjoy, but one that cannot be sent overseas. The best choices are things that require you to be HERE to provide your service or product. Looks like we may have a pastry chef/cafe owner and a veterarian in the family.

The economy will not pull back from this practice.. instead we'll have to adjust to it. Sad, but true.

I got a call from India. The man says this is a courtesy call from Discover Bank. I told him I won't be doing business with Discover Bank and thanked him for the information about the bank's outsourcing.

5. I changed all my credit card addresses...

after a recent move. I had to call each company.

I cancelled two cards that I had for years because their customer service center was in India.

One of them was my JCPenney's Card.
