County sticking to basics -- Board agrees not to use electronic voting mac
http://www.timesreporter.com/left.php?ID=29859&r=2

Tuscarawas County voters will not be using electronic voting machines to cast their ballots in the Nov. 2 general election.
(snip)
“It’s in our best interest and in the county’s best interest not to implement the machines until there is a paper trail,” he said. “With the punch cards, we have a paper trail.”
(snip)
Bev Harris, founder of the Black Box Voting watchdog group, said the Diebold machines are so poor that she taught a 9-year-old to “edit” an election. She said the current electronic voting machines will disenfranchise vision and mobility impaired voters.
(snip)
“The vote to rescind the decision was memorialized on film as a New York Times television team – in Ohio to interview Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell – attended the meeting.

3. money money
The quagmire previously known as the 2000 elecction, continues to create havoc around the counties and states throughout the country. a lot of money has been used in suits forcing dem or evenly split counties to buy into high tech, with Diabold as the leading supplier.

When the leader of Diabold said at a Bush fundraiser last year, "I guarantee that we will bring you this election" (pointing to 2004) I almost soiled me knickers. Where was the outrage? Where was the reaction, or even recognition of what this guy was promising? At least California got it right. 49 more to go.

4. Just a note about our location
Diebold's headquarters is about 25 miles north of here right across the interstate from Timken. That's right - the steel company that just closed three local plants. Timmy Timken is on the Diebold board.

The original vote was not so much for the machines as for Diebold. This vote was unanimously against Diebold.

People in this area are dropping off the Bush wagon at an amazing pace - and we are in the critical area of Ohio that he must win. He is going to lose. Take it to the bank.
