Blair hit by object during PM questions
They suspended PM questions early. Someone forced his way through to the front of the viewing gallery and threw a balloon full of purple powder which hit BLair on the back. Everyone on Daily Politics are very excited about it.

Blair seems ok.

Just came across the wire:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3728617.stm

The House of Commons has been suspended during Prime Minister's question time after what appeared to be purple powder was thrown at Tony Blair.
Mr Blair was speaking at the Despatch Box during his weekly half-hour appearance in the chamber when what appeared to be something like a balloon filled with purple powder hit him on his back.

2. There's some history to it today
Today's the anniversary of suffrage./women's voting rights in the UK from what I heard earlier this morning. There's one famous instance where one of the women denied voting rights had thrown an egg at Churchill.

9. Some Father's rights group claimed responsibility
The spokesperson was on the phone on daily politics, he sounded a bit stupid when asked whether his cause was worth the possibility of further security measures increasing the distance between MP and constituant, further weakening the democracy of the country. Somehow I don't think the group are going to be portrayed in a favourable light.

11. The headlines ought to read "Blair dusted, Takes a powder."
After his strutting around around saying that "a blood sacrifice" had to be made in Iraq, it's interesting to see how the cowardly little turd runs when confronted with a little protest.

Cowering before an attack of blue powder-- this is the heir to Winston Churchill? For shame!

Now that he's scurried away in panic for the day, Anthony Charles Lynton "Tony" Blair should do the world a favor by staying away permanently.

22. Ummm....
Cowering before an attack of blue powder-- this is the heir to Winston Churchill? For shame!

Watch the video, he looks up with a smile at the shouts from the member's gallery and then continues to read his notes, and then is struck on the back. It appears that he didn't even notice.

He most definitely didn't cower.

And Winston Churchill was a warmongering, kurd-gasser... just so you know.

Now that he's scurried away in panic for the day, Anthony Charles Lynton "Tony" Blair should do the world a favor by staying away permanently.

Actually he didn't scurry away, he was hurried away by his security people.

24. Flour-filled condoms story at Yahoo
British Parliament evacuated after Blair hit by flour-filled condoms

<snip>

Two men were arrested on the spot and taken into custody, police said, as Fathers 4 Justice, a group well-known for using high-profile stunts to press its case for fathers' rights, claimed responsibility.

A spokesman for the group later named the two as Ron Davies, 44, and Guy Harrison.

Michael Sadeh told AFP the two makeshift projectiles were "two condoms... filled up with baking flour with purple ink in it."

"The funny side is that they both broke up half way. It shows that British condoms don't work," he joked.

26. Hehehe
"Could you imagine Bush at Question Time every day?"

PMQ's is only held on wednesdays... but you're right seeing Bush doing something like that under an adversarial system would be most amusing.

I don't think he'd have to fake a stroke... he'd stroke out trying to remember which way to face at the despatch-box. :)

31. God Save the Poodle
God save our gracious Poodle,
Long may his spine be noodle,
God save the Poodle!
Send him victorious,
On wars tortorious,
Long to reign over us;
God save the Poodle!

O Lord our globaliz' arise,
Scatter his enemies
And make them starve;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their democrat'c tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
WTO save us all!

Thy Toriest rules in store
On Brit'n be pleased to pour;
Long may they reign;
May they confound our laws,
And nary give us cause
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the Poodle!

Not in this land alone,
But be Marge's mercies known,
From shore to shore!
Trojans make the nations see,
That men should en'mies be,
And form no family,
The wide world over.

From every latent foe,
From Great Justice's blow,
Bush save the Poodle!
O'er him thine arm extend,
For Bechtel's sake defend,
Our mother, prince, and friend,
God save the Poodle!

Lord grant that Dubya 'wide
May by his mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious peons to crush.
God save the Poodle of Bush!

(don't hurt me!)

30. Nope.
It's a group campaigning for "fairer treatment" of fathers when it comes to custody and access after divorce.

Their first protest was taking over a large construction crane in London last year.
