(Aust) PM to question US over Hicks abuse claims

"Prime Minister John Howard will seek further assurances from the United States about the treatment of Australian detainee David Hicks.

A former cellmate reportedly says Mr Hicks was beaten when first taken into custody by the US in Afghanistan.

The Australian detainee's legal team also says their client was mistreated while being held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba"

With a bit of luck both will be gone by Xmas.

Mr Howard told Channel Nine he takes the allegations with a grain of salt
