US fire kills six Iraqis in Tikrit: hospital chief

TIKRIT, Iraq (AFP) - Five Iraqi men and one child were killed early Friday by US gunfire in a street market in the town of Tikrit, the director of the main hospital in Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s hometown north of Baghdad told AFP.

US soldiers opened fire at five arms sellers who were test firing Kalashnikov assault rifles for customers at 8:30 am (0430 GMT), killing them, Salah al-Dulaimi said.

A child who was in the marketplace of the town, 175 kilometers (110 miles) north of Baghdad, was also fatally shot, and a woman was wounded, he said.

There was no immediate confirmation of the incident from the US military.

2. Like I said, they are going to kill every man, woman, and child

in Tikrit because of the delusion that it will erase Saddam Hussein
in people's minds. Every man, woman and child in Tikrit is labeled
a "Saddam loyalist" and so they will die--which will do nothing
but instigate more inward and outward hatred of the occupiers.

"incidents?" An incident is spilling a glass of milk. the killing of people is a tragedy.

Sorry for the rant, but that is a pet peeve of mine. By marginalizing this I feel their readers become callous to the horrors of death.

It's the same thing - invaded a country we had no right to be there and shooting innocent Moslems, just like what Israel does. Very sad, I don't think will end any time soon.

This was nothing more than an act of cold blooded murder. The soldiers involved should be arrested and if found guilty, publicly executed. We would never condone this sort of behavior in this country. :grr:
