DENVER (AP) - One of the attorneys representing an Army private embroiled in the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal was fired Thursday because of fears his own legal troubles may harm the case.
Attorney Roy Hardy said he made the decision to fire Giorgio Ra'Shadd in consultation with the West Virginia family of Pfc. Lynndie England, 21.
``It's nothing personal, but he's had so many things going on in Colorado that I felt it would be a detriment to the case - that he couldn't focus on the case knowing he could lose his law license,'' Hardy said. ``I felt it was in his best interest and our best interest that he be removed.''

Ra'Shadd faces a September trial in Colorado that could result in his disbarment. He is accused of mingling client money with his own and failing to return nearly $12,000 to the daughters of a dead woman, among other charges.
