GOP Leaders Retreat, Postpone Budget Vote

Read what McCain said!!!!

Asked what might make them change their minds, one of the moderates, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said, "Some of us could get killed in tragic accidents."

Wow! That sounds like a direct reference to Wellstone's death, and it sounds like McCain is implying that there might have been something suspicious about the plane accident. But who can blame McCain for being angry?.....

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., asked reporters if one holdout, McCain, was a Republican.

And they are now fighting among themselves!!

"What the speaker said was tremendously unhelpful," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who is not among the four.

Eeeeeeexcellent!

1. Sounds like...
""It's premature to bring it to a vote tonight," Frist told reporters. "I don't want to shut the door by forcing people to vote when I still have other options," such as trying to persuade them to change their minds."

Sounds like "we need more time to twist some arms" to me...

4. I hope that the snakes do pass this bill.
It will bite them hard come election time, especially on the heels of the unemployment benefits extension bill the Repukes just voted down.

6. It IS that bad.
I think McCain is starting to come to terms with the thuggery that makes up the Bush gang.

I doubt there is much rose coloring left on his glasses.

7. Meow, McCain!
Can you believe he said, "Some of us could get killed in tragic accidents?" McCain is a brave man.

Other than McCain, it seem to me that others in the GOP are waffling because of what they are hearing from the grass roots. They care more about getting themselves reelected than sacrificing all for Bush. The GOP incumbents are finally noticing that Bush's coattails are covered with poo.

9. Wow. Looks like a defensive statement to me.
McCains comment sounds like a good response to an implied threat. Basically, if he or one of the other stallwart moderates were to get off, there'd be little doubt about why.

11. The Republican party no longer exists.
They should change their names to the American Fascists or the Radicals. They are a bunch of thugs.

18. This is the real reason they hate Clinton.
He did everything they always brag about doing and somehow are never able to do, balanced the budget, strong on defense, etc. Even the NAFTA thing, the repukes would have done that in a heartbeat, look how they are passing the Singapore and Chile and whoever else fta's.

They hated Clinton because of this COMPETENCE, and the repukes committed suicide when they persecuted him over a blow job. And when the nazis dominated the saner fiscal conservatives ( an oxymoron though they won't admit it), that is when the republican party chose it's own fate.

12. HOLY SHIIIIIST!!
That is definitely a huge threshold for a Senator on the Floor to say his life may be threatened for the position he is taking. And a Repug fearing another Repug to BOOT!!!

Stunning absolutely mindboggling. I guess I should be worried, but I think this kind of open discourse means change is coming.
