OPEC Says Wants Lower Oil Prices

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - OPEC (news - web sites) is "deeply concerned" about high world oil prices and wants to calm the market to support global economic growth, OPEC President Purnomo Yusgiantoro said in a statement released on Saturday.

Purnomo told reporters the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries had not reached a decision on output policy during informal talks in Amsterdam.

Saudi Arabia has proposed OPEC raise output by at least two million barrels daily. Policy will be decided at a full meeting in Beirut on June 3.
