En décernant la palme d'or au réalisateur de «Fahrenheit 9/11», le jury, bien qu'il s'en défende, a privilégié le politique aux dépens du cinéma.

(The jury defended itself against charges that it placed politics over film-making in the award of the palme d'or to the creator of "Fahrenheit 9/11" )
P. Azoury critiques Moore's film as being 'ugly, sometimes demagogic and facile as to content' .....
The author said that Jaques Cousteau's film 'Monde du silence' (filmed in 1955 with Louis Malle) that won the prize had merit as a documentary film and that Moore's documentary was a 'dictorship of news. That the award was contextual ... i.e. a political statement rather than a true documentary.
