Edited on Tue May-25-04 03:37 PM by Les BOOGIE

that Osama wanted closed.

I repeat: We are NEVER leaving Iraq.

15. Exactly.....................
He can't come right out and tell the truth. He has to lie like he has about everything else to further the neocons agenda. He can't lay out an exit strategy because there is none and never will be, not a real one anyway.

anything else, or hoping for anything else is pure fantasy or naivete

Bush got what he wanted. Kerry will follow and we will hear of a few changes--and the vaunted UN may be involved. Nevertheless, businesses that were established on the blood of thousands who were murdered by Bush in order to land the gentry , most expecially Halliburten and subsidiaries, and who have increased their revenues on the blood of the victims--the amputed legs and arms and hands and heads of children

Bush got what he wanted--what he was installed in the White HOuse for--and I am not so sure that Kerry did not want the same thing.

We are installing at least 100,000 troops on those fourteen bases. We will have the largest embassy ever seen built in Bagdhad, in order to show the Iraqi people how powerful we are. Classic colonization. Their language will no longer be spoken in businesses--their religion will be phased out and they will lose their cultural identity.

That is how the colonizer controls the colonized.

5. Kerry witnessed the horror of "colonization" and fought back.
Vietnam was a "colonization" effort,...just replace "communism" with "terrorism",...and we have duplicate efforts at hand.

voted to give Bush the blank check.

It was not the right thing to do. You know it and so do I.

27. Yeah, that would be nice if it were true.
What there will be is a massive upswell of cognitive dissonance and apologism, just like when the IWR passed. Any "open revolt" will be smeared as party traitors or Republican enablers, and "Do you want Bush to win" will be replaced with "Do you want another Bush back in office?"

22. To vote against it at that time
would have been a disaster to Kerry's career/reputation! Most everyone voted *for* because to *not* do so labeled one as un patriotic! America was *blinded* by 911, all sense of reason vanished in the smoke of of the Towers. The only vision that remained was filled with the emotional tugs of pain and revenge. The blind followed the blind -- Bush, who had no vision at all, just his agenda to take advantage and use the sentiments of the nation to fund his vendetta/war! Everyone followed Bush off the cliff into Vietiraq! Not Kerry's fault, IMO!

26. Strange.
My senator (Dick Durbin) voted against it. It was a shame how he got dragged out into the streets and stoned by angry constitu-- no, wait, that didn't happen.

Not "everyone" followed Bush -- just the weak, foolish, or corrupt. Your guess is as good as mine as to which we'll apparently have to be voting for this November.

28. Yes, but there are some people who actually do deserve forgiveness.
Heck, if MY congressman was taken in, and felt compelled to vote for the war, ANYBODY, John Kerry included, could be. My congressman is Superliberal Henry Waxman - cheney's ongoing headache, among others. He's about as righteous and activist and noble as they come. He, also, was lied to, and felt compelled to get in line. But he's done so much else, on so many fronts, to stand up to these schmucks and get justice for the rest of us that I myself feel compelled to forgive him. And then, if I do that, as Waxman's earned my willingness to do, I may have to extend that reasoning to Kerry.

Fell in love with Dr. Dean. Wish he were still a factor. But if Kerry's our guy, it's Kerry I'll support.

30. Maybe.
Kerry will probably get my vote ... but not my forgiveness (not that I'm naive enough to believe he gives a damn about that, but ...)

The clincher is this: how many of these poor put-upon Congressional Democrats who 'felt compelled' to vote for the war are willing to state now -- now that they know the case was a lie, that we had no valid cause for war, that for whatever reason WE are now the aggressors, the threat to peace, the bad guys -- that the Iraq invasion wasn't just "mishandled", it was a Bad Thing?

So long as one's war criticism is limited to its conduct rather than its existence, I continue to classify that one as a Yellowbrick Democrat club: seriously in need of either a brain, a heart, or some nerve. (And I'll continue to be unsurprised at how difficult it is to raise massive support for them among the public.)

This might become part of the exit strategy one day. Does it have a flat roof? With helipads? :)

18. Yeah - an "embassy" run by John "Death Squads" Negroponte!
A guy that Kerry VOTED FOR to become ambassador to the UN. (Negroponte, it should be noted, was one of the Iran-Contra figures Kerry helped investigate. So much for "bringing down the BFEE" - Kerry knows the guy's a murderous criminal, yet he votes for him anyway!)

At this point, it doesn't matter if Kerry does or does not want the same goals in Iraq as b*sh, because those goals will not be realized. Like Viet Nam, should America arrogantly attempt to make Iraq a permanent colony, it will fail.

We will be driven out eventually. It is inevitable. As I've mentioned before, our total troop strength in Iraq is slightly less than one-half of one percent of the Iraqi population. We're not going to be allowed to stay there permanently, military bases or no military bases.

7. He can't figure out how to promote a strategy thats not all-or-nothing
There's no all-or-nothing, point by point 'decisive' strategy when you have to account for what the Iraqi's will ask for and future uncertainty.

The media seems to require a deadline and commitments before they will label it a strategy.

Kerry can talk about a strategy that includes uncertainties like international support, contingencies and so forth, and do it straightforward leaving a lot of qualifiers assumed and leave the stage having communicated 'yes has a plan'.

But Bush seems incapable of it. He either gives a 1-2-3 plan and comes off sounding ignorant, or he brings up so many qualifiers and hem-haws so much that he comes off as 'we're playing it completely by ear'.

They could have the exact same plan with appropriate branch strategies and qualifiers and Kerry could give a 'has plan' impression while Bush exudes 'clueless'.

*LOL*

Life is what happens when you are making plans.

The neocons who back Bush will break because they cannot bend.

Personally, I can not help but lavish the day they break,...because they have imposed so much suffering.

20. The Exit Strategy has never
existed! The plan is all at this PNAC site in simple english...

http://www.newamericancentury.org/

The Project for the New American Century is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle; and that too few political leaders today are making the case for global leadership.

24. Victory Means Exit Strategy!
"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for
the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."
George W. Bush, discussing Kosovo, Houston Chronicle, 4/9/99

“stay in the military -- there’s a new commander in chief coming. The great nation called America will be the peacemaker. I will not retreat. We cannot retreat. I will be a commander in chief who respects the men and women in uniform and makes sure they are sent abroad only on clearly defined missions.” -- Candidate Bush to soldiers, August, 2000

31. This is a no brainer
to those of us here with more than one brain cell left. There NEVER was ANY strategy, just to start their "holy" war and to suck as much cash out of America and into the pockets of their puppetmasters. Glad to see the media beginning to see the light even though I hold them equally responsible for this awful mess our Country is in.
