CRAWFORD, Texas (AFP) - Coalition soldiers in Iraq (news - web sites) came under renewed fire from suspected supporters of ousted leader Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) as the FBI (news - web sites) was called into help investigate the fatal bombing of the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad.

Just hours after US President George W Bush lauded successes in Iraq, assailants hurled a grenade at a British military truck in the southern port city of Basra, setting the vehicle ablaze and soldiers running from the smoking vehicle, witnesses said.

On the outskirts of Fallujah, just 50 kilometres (30 miles) west of Baghdad, a US base came under attack late Friday, witnesses told AFP Saturday.

Four blasts were heard and smoke was seen rising from the grounds.

1. What about the world peace
Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 10:39 AM by jfkennedy
What about the world peace we were promised by Bush. I want my peace. That we would no longer see another terrorism commercial on TV. That the Republicans have changed their ways and stopped sponsoring terrorism and extreme conservatism and extremism, which terrorism is rooted in.

Did not Bush say the war would stop terrorism forever. That the world including Iraq would welcome Bush’s vision of Democracy, and that things would be different then Vietnam. That wars really are peace making institutions.
