ST. MARYS, Ga. -- In a dress rehearsal for what authorities hope never happens, Camden County law enforcement and public safety personnel trained Wednesday for potential confrontation with protestors during next month's G8 Summit.
At a drill just outside the Kings Bay submarine base, Marines played the role of protestors, carrying signs and charging police dressed in newly acquired riot gear.
Camden County deputies, along with police officers from Kingsland and St. Marys, firefighters and other personnel were involved in the exercise.
"You've got to be ready for it in case it happens, because if not, it can get out of hand real fast," Camden County Sheriff's Office Lt. William Terrell said.
