U.S. military skeptical of al-Sadr pullout plan
Edited on Thu May-27-04 07:20 AM by Teaser
As usual, crap and more crap.

The commanders told CNN they plan to continue their military operations in Najaf, despite the proposal, which the commanders said is similar to previous plans pitched by the cleric.

Iraq's National Security Adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie outlined the proposal Wednesday, saying al-Sadr also offered to give Iraqi police control over government buildings in Najaf.

Also, in a related story we have the following quote:

Ahmed al-Shibani, an al-Sadr aide, said there was "no truth" that a final agreement had been struck and that al-Rubaie "is talking on his own."
