Bush Says Iraq Mission Vital to Security
CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush says Iraq is making steady progress establishing its economy, basic services and a democratic system and that should improve security in this country and the Middle East.

"We're keeping our word to the Iraqi people by helping them to make their country an example of democracy and prosperity throughout the region," Bush said in his weekly radio address Saturday. "This long-term undertaking is vital to peace in the region and to the security of the United States."

After giving his report on Iraq 100 days after he declared the end of major combat operations, the president was turning his attention to re-election politics.

1. He's securing Halliburton's stock price
that's about it.

Oh, and the oil companies who reported record profits in the 2nd quarter due to the long suspense building up to the "war".

Windfall profits anyone?

2. After the bank robber Chalabi
manages to eliminate his rivals in the so called Governing Council and appoints himself President for Life a la the Shah of Iran, we can look forward to an era of guerilla warfare in the Middle East
after which another Ayatollah will come to power in Iraq.We can also expect that Israel's never ending wars with just about everybody will now be expanded from what is now Israel proper. There will be more neocon sophistry about how the arabs need to be taught the ways of democracy. We can all expect inflation to soar, gas prices to rise
and deficits to explode. As is usual, the highest price will be paid by the poor and the innocent.Cheney will die a billionaire and his wife will curse the amoral democrats and Ann Coulter will bash the liberals for not supporting Chalabi enough. All the neocons and their children will find "other priorities" to avoid service in the armed forces.Lieberman will say the war in Iraq was a just war and democrats missed an opportunity to be on the side of God along with Pat Robertson.

All so depressing and so predictable.
