France, China Want U.S. to Spell Out Iraqi Powers

Thu May 27, 2004 06:21 PM ET

By Evelyn Leopold

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United States has to ensure that an interim Iraqi government has full sovereignty, especially over operations by a U.S.-led multinational force, French President Jacques Chirac said on Thursday.

Chirac added his views on a U.S.-British drafted resolution, which France, China and other U.N. Security Council members believe does not spell out clearly enough the powers of a new Iraqi caretaker government when the official occupation ends on June 30.

Visiting Guatemala city, Chirac told reporters the resolution needed "serious improvement" and should state that the yet-to-be-named Iraqi interim government should exercise "full sovereignty in all fields -- political economic, security, justice, diplomacy."

I believe that UN is whistling the end of the game and it is putting Bush's back against the wall. Chirac is only the spokesman in this affair.

8. Does it matter?
Whether the powers are in the hands of the US or the US puppets, they still serve US power, not the wishes of the Iraqi people, or their welfare...
