Cuba Likens Iraqi Prisoner Images to Hitler Crimes

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (Reuters) - Photographs and video of Iraqi prisoners abused by U.S. troops are the most shocking images seen since the days of Hitler, the Cuban government said on Friday.

"Since the dark days of Hitler ... humanity has not observed images of such emotional impact," said a government statement issued at a summit of European and Latin American leaders.

"Millions and millions of people have been horrified by the brutal sadism" reflected by photos and video from the Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad.

The historical parallel drawn by Cuba came in a lengthy document which complained bitterly about the absence of direct criticism of the United States in the final declaration of the summit in Mexico.

1. Man! We've fallen far enough that...
...we're getting punked out by Cuba. Worse, it's sticking.

2. Cuba has kicked US ass in healthcare access and education for decades.
Unversal health care for all.

97% literacy w/free higher ed.

Many American families would give their left one for those very things.

3. That "horrible" Castro
Edited on Fri May-28-04 02:06 PM by goclark

I thought that we were going to go over there and get rid of him.
But he is still standing after all these years.

What happened GWB, did you find out that there was not oil there to go after? Are you still trying to get the votes of the Rich Cubans that live in Florida? Yes, you are trying to let them think you care about their Brown skin and language...say anything for a vote.

It is so ironic that Cuba, of all places, can tell America that it is barbaric...hummmmm

4. Castro was probably taking notes
and picking up a few pointers.

Let's sneak a camera into his prisons and see what turns up. And by that I don't mean an Oliver Stone video blow job.

7. That wouldn't make him worse than Bush, now would it?
Castro has much to make amends for with his camps for "undesirables" and the like. Thankfully, there has indeed been progress in Cuba. Bush, however, wants to take THIS country backwards--very far backwards.

5. Shocking that a nearby neighbor would make such shocking accusations,
utterly shocking and not nice at all.

6. Castro's right: BushCo is Hitlerian in deed, even if not in scope
Unwarranted aggression. Territorial conquest. Deliberate targeting of civilians. Ethnic and religious animus. Sadistic death camps.

How many more parallels do you need?
