Ghostbusters Descend on British Navy Base

May 27, 2004 — Ghostbusting paranormal researchers will visit a big Royal Navy base in the south of England this weekend to investigate reports that it is haunted, their team leader said Thursday.

Psychics, mediums and investigators will spend two nights attempting to detect ghosts at Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth, using seances and sophisticated sensors.
They will focus their attention on the Hangman's Cell, reputed to be where more than 100 men were executed, and the Master Ropemaker's House which dates back to the 1700s.

I can't believe they're wasting time and money - hopefully the Royal Navy isn't behind this or using their funds/staff. Wonder what lame-ass outfit thought of this idea and I wonder if any real scientists will attend. No doubt they'll find AMAZING PROOF that no one could ever validate.

If there's something "weird" in whatever place they're investigating, maybe they ought to hire some actual investigators who are grounded in reality so that they can find out that the weird noises (or whatever) are caused by an infestation of raccoons and not something that doesn't exist like ghosts.

I agree... Call the JREF and have the Amazing Randi go over there and be in charge. Half of the psychics would drop out of this little adventure because they wouldn't be able to put anything over on him - of course, they would claim that his negative vibes were going to interfere with their powers and whatnot.
