Berg interviewed for Michael Moore film: sister reveals theme of interview
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/Northeast/05/29/moore.berg.ap/index.html

Moore sent copies of the footage to David Berg in New Jersey and sister Sara Berg in Virginia. Their parents will see the video after returning to their suburban home from vacation, David Berg said.

Sara Berg said her brother told Moore's crew he was nervous about his safety in Iraq.

"He recognized it was a concern, and he kind of pointed out that he'd worked in difficult situations before," Sara Berg said from her home in Virginia Beach. "It's definitely something that he didn't shrug off."

David Berg said Moore handled the situation with "dignity, respect and discipline."

"Michael Moore has really been a total class act with this whole thing," David Berg said. "He could have sold this to the media or stuck it in his movie."

Sara Berg said she saw the video footage as a "gift."

2. It's amazing how different the coverage is now compared to this morning.
The story I read this morning made it sound like Moore had done something evil. This article is very different.

Obviously some newspaper editors feel like they must discredit Moore at every opportunity.

5. I noticed something "odd" about the CNN report that I posted
Edited on Sun May-30-04 12:07 AM by MiddleMen
earlier on the recall. The odd part was that it was the closest thing to balanced I had seen in a major mainstream western source. Now this. I wonder what the heck is going on at CNN.

Whatever it is I like it (but don't trust it quite yet).

Edit: both stories seem to be AP stories. Maybe they deserve the praise.

6. I have a friend who is friends with one of the on-air CNN reporters.
This friend said that the CNN reporters the summer before last were on the verge of open revolt. Apparently there was one editor who controlled the whole show who wouldn't let them report anything critical of Bush. They weren't even allowed to read ...get this...AP reports off the wire if they were critical.

So, it's funny that you note that those stories were AP reports. Because, apparently at CNN, AP reports can sometimes be, um, inappropriate for public consumption.

7. I read a report
That said military intellagence had placed interns at CNN. So, why not put one of your own at or near the top? Hopefully, this will all come out in the wash. Maybe we'll learn from our mistakes this time.

16. It would be funny if it were a mixup.
When the chief editor at CNN told the reporters they're not allowed to read anything on air they got from AP, the editor meant "from AP at DU."

All this time they WERE allowed to read AP newswire reports!

If my screen name had been BP, CNN wouldn't have been so awful all these years!

12. Not to mention some DUers...
Obviously some newspaper editors feel like they must discredit Moore at every opportunity.

Check out a few of the posts from recent days, and tell me why even Liberals want to attack Moore. :eyes:

8. I hope this gets some mainstream coverage
cause it would really shut up the right wing smears against Mike.. I had no doubt he would handle it this way.

10. bush backs a exiled crack-vial ring leader, a crack vial-ring leader
how in the hell is bush even in the white house. what the hell is going on in this country. we impeached clinton for sex, but bush has lied, cheated, stolen, and killed. yet he's getting 40 percent of the vote.

http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/news/nation/8788000.htm

"In Iraq, Berg partnered with an ex-Philadelphia Iraqi expatriate who'd been convicted in a Russian-exile crack-vial ring before becoming the highly visible leader of an anti-Saddam Hussein group backed by the Bush administration."

11. Remember comments about "Russian" spoken in the video?
"Berg partnered with an ex-Philadelphia Iraqi expatriate who'd been convicted in a Russian-exile crack-vial ring"

I watched the video but never listened to the audio...was there any truth to one of the "terrorists" saying something in Russian?
I recall reading a bunch of posts to that effect!

14. It's up to us to bring this up on the talk shows...either by e-mail or pho
We have only ourselves to blame if we let the media and the pundits get away with their lies. We need to learn to 'scream'
