For Vanity Fair, Bushes are Exception to Royal Rule
The September issue of Vanity Fair, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of its rebirth, lavishes the royal treatment on various monarchs with a series of articles suggesting "These Bluebloods Rule!"

(snip)

But when the subject switches to America's ruling dynasty, Graydon Carter, the magazine's editor, is all for the overthrow of the ruling class. In four of his last five editor's notes, Mr. Carter has slowly circled the Bush administration like an Apache gunship helicopter, firing round after round into the administration's policies and saying that they will eventually destroy all that is good about America. (He took time off in the July issue to blast Michael R. Bloomberg, the mayor of New York.)

In the September issue, the biggest in the magazine's history, the foreign royals are lauded as "terribly down to earth and very in touch with the times." Meanwhile, both Bush 43 and 41 are ridiculed for rolling up record deficits in record time.

"Never let it be said," Mr. Carter writes, "that the son hasn't lived up to the accomplishments of the father."

1. Ouch
Isn't this the same rag that Christopher Hitchens writes for?

I thought they were conservative to the bone?

4. I subscribe -
I've been stunned by how bold they've been in confonting BushCo in the columns. Really strong! Of course they have done glamour photo lay-outs of the whole administration, truly disgusting, photographed them like starlets. But these columns have been dead-on. Wish I had a link.

5. Here's a link
But there's no VF content on-line. Just teasers for the main articles and a subscription form.

7. I don't always disagree with hitchens. His work on exposing mother
theresa was brilliant and confirmed my own understanding about her fraud.

2. It's all in the family genes. I wish he'd look back a few generations!
My personal belief is that George W. Bush is the monster child of Edward I.

6. They also published the Wolfowitz interview
The very one he said WMD's were not the main reason for invading Iraq, but the "bureaucratic" one everyone could agree with.

8. Apology
Sorry for the unwarranted remark. I mistakenly assumed that Hitchens was the poster boy for the magazine.

9. Bu**sh** probably loves being hated by Graydon Carter
He belongs to that dumbass, anti-intellectual, anti-art, anti-NY, vengeful, inferior-complexed, Yankee-hating yahoo wing of the Republican Party that loves being hated by that "wine-swilling" Marin-Hamptons-Cape Cod crowd.

10. Funny, but Junior is a product of that crowd
that he now disparages. Kennebunkport is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Vineyard, and he somehow can't disguise his roots. His language – "fabulous" –and habits – loafers without socks – betray him.

11. Bush's "yahoo" crowd is the same one...
that Conservative Luminaries David Duke and Timothy McVeigh belong to!

12. The NYT piece is extremely bitchy. For that reason, I'll buy
the Vanity Fair issue.

13. Vanity Fair did an unflattering story on Laura Ingraham...
...a few years back. It was there I first read what comedian Chris Rock said to L.I. on TV: "With all due respect, ma'am, you are the meanest bitch I have ever seen."

I'm relieved to hear that they are unimpressed by the Simian One and his sire.
