U.S. Mounts New Mission to Hunt Saddam Loyalists
TIKRIT, Iraq (Reuters) - U.S. troops with Apache helicopters and Abrams tanks scoured a remote region north of Baghdad Monday to hunt guerrillas loyal to Saddam Hussein, rounding up a dozen suspects and seizing five weapons caches. ..

The 4th Infantry Division said it had launched a new mission, Operation Ivy Lightning, to hunt for Saddam loyalists it believed had fled to isolated villages east of Saddam's hometown of Tikrit to escape repeated U.S. raids.

"Ivy Lightning is a surgical strike in remote towns...to isolate and capture non-compliant forces and former regime loyalists who are planning attacks against Coalition forces," Lieutenant-Colonel William MacDonald told reporters in Tikrit.

He said the operation was focusing on the area around Qara Tappa, around 130 km (80 miles) north of Baghdad.

2. Non-compliant forces!
This noun can cover a lot of territory. Failure or refusal to comply? To What' goddamn it? Our form of government?

Why can't the Irais kick the Americans out of their country? Didn't we accomplish our objectives to disarm? I don't get it -

Silly me, I keep forgetting that organized crime can do anything.

4. the "hunt" for BIN LADEN was never this big of a deal
and why is that? Hmmm...

this "loyalist" nonsense is just that. If the N Korean army started marching up my street, behaving in the exact same manner as the US in Iraq, I would be shooting at them too. They would call me a "Bush loyalist"

the regime is gone, supposedly, right? These Iraqi's are loyal to themselves, not their invaders!

5. Iraqis keep saying we've had Saddam all along.
We keep him in hiding as an excuse to crush civil liberties.

6. Not Late Breaking News
Oh, wait, this is yet another new mission. Sorry, my mistake.

100 days, about 10 to 15 changes in policy of how to "liberate" Iraq. I don't know, but I think they are winging it.... :eyes:
