Democrats face deadline for court filing ("The Texas Eleven")
KVUE News (Free reg. req.)

he Texas Eleven have until noon to respond to the Texas Supreme Court.

The attorney for the Democrats is in the courthouse right now filing a response. He says that he'll have it in on time.

If not, the Democrats will face an uphill battle because the Supreme Court would hear only one side of the argument as to why the Democrats should be forced back to Texas.

It began with a writ of mandamus filed by Lt. Governor David Dewhurst demanding the Democrats come back to work immediately.

That's when the Supreme Court set the noon deadline for the Democrats to respond. ---

The question here is if the Democrats lose this battle, what will the consequences be if they don't return to work?

It may be up to the court in determining how to compel the Democrats back to Texas.

4. The Texas...
Supreme Court is controlled entirely by Republicans -- I don't think it'll be a huge surprise how they will rule...
