Al-Qaida Claims U.S. Slaying and Hostage
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/S/SAUDI_AMERICAN_MISSING?SITE=PAREA&SECTION=HOME
<snip>
...The al-Qaida statement, posted late Saturday on an Islamic Web site, showed a passport-size photo of a brown-haired man and a business card bearing the name Paul M. Johnson. It said he was born in 1955.

The statement said the terror group would deal with the hostage just as "the Americans dealt with our brothers in Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib" - a reference to sexual and other alleged abuses of Iraqi and Muslim prisoners by U.S. troops.

8. If only we could get back to,..."the basics",...
,...then the ball could once again get rollin' forward.

BUT,...you know humanity,...crisis does things that pulls the best out of us. It'll be gratifying to witness what happens through this monumental political crisis,...because, no matter what,...Americans really do value "being good".

4. interesting how aq can communicate at will via a specific website
Is this the same website where the berg video was "found?"

Boy, I wonder how big a blow it would be to aq if this website were shut down or rendered inoperative. I bet it would be a bigger blow to the fear mongers. Not to worry, having that website shut down is just beyond our capabilities, evidently. Those crafty evildoers.

7. CNN coverage >>
Group says it kidnapped American in Saudi capital
Also claims responsibility for killing another U.S. citizen
Saturday, June 12, 2004 Posted: 9:46 PM EDT (0146 GMT)
<s>
The statement identified the missing American by name and described him as a "specialist" and an engineer who works as a systems developer for the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.

The group posted the man's driver's license, Saudi and American identification papers, and other documents on the site to prove he was taken hostage.

The statement said the United States and its allies have used the Apache helicopter in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Palestinian territories.

"We have our legal right to treat the same way they treat our people," it adds. "We will publish more details about the man kidnapped and explain the mujahedeen's demands."
