Torrnado on the ground 30 W of Stettler heading North East

Alerts for area 4 near Veteran and Concorde, and area 2 near Conronation, Castor.

9. Tornadoes in Alberta

I'm in Edmonton, Alberta - not too far from the area, which is southeast, and although we have a lot of funnel cloud sightings during July/August, most don't turn into serious tornadoes. We have had a few in outlying areas the last few summers. The biggest, most severe was on 31 July 1987 - this one caused a lot of damage in an eastern suburb of Edmonton, and destroyed a trailer park in the north end of the city, killing 27 people.

There is still a severe thunderstorn warning around the Coronation area and the County of Stettler near Big Valley and Byemoor and parts of Starland county
