SEOUL: A US Army officer based in South Korea was detained for questioning yesterday in connection with the disposal of the body of a caucasian female on a highway outside the capital Seoul, the US Army and local police said.


The man was detained before dawn after highway police, patrolling the expressway between Seoul and Inchon International Airport, saw him attempting to throw a large plastic bag off a bridge into the sea, said an Inchon police official.

"We suspect that the dead woman is a foreigner in her 30s, but we are waiting for the results from the investigation," said the officer, who declined to be identified
