New Hampshire Hailed in Obesity Fight
BEDFORD, N.H. - New Hampshire is one of the best states in addressing the growing problem of obesity, according to U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona. At a health conference in Bedford on Tuesday, Carmona said obesity soon will eclipse smoking as the nation's leading cause of preventable death. New Hampshire is no exception to the trend, but Carmona said it leads the nation in addressing the problem and informing the public.

"Your state is really advanced," he said. "They're pushing the envelope."

Carmona said rather than push for sweeping changes in the health care system, he prefers to focus on promoting the prevention of sickness and disease.

"If I gave every penny I have, it wouldn't be enough," he said. "Unless you embrace prevention, you're always going to be chasing the dollar."

2. Too bad the government is the one that has caused most of
the obesity in this country thru their lovely poisoning of the environment with mercury, etc.

many of these toxins go after the thyroid gland and basic testing of thyroid shows "normal" results.

Do some research on this before you condemn overweight people, PLEASE! This is serious problem in our country today.

The gov. uses smoke and mirrors to distract people from true issues.
Hate fat people, hate welfare queens, hate the fags.

Everyone at DU needs to wake up and see the hand is quicker than the eye.

Bohemian Grove. Check it out.

3. The unannounced substitution of corn syrup
for sugar is another cause. The government has contributed in many ways to obesity.

Notice that the poor are likelier to be obese.

4. This has zero effect on health care expenditures
Cigarette companies were widely lambasted a few years back for their report to the Czech government advocating that they promote smoking on the grounds that killing off people just as they were about to retire would produce a large net savings by reducing the population most in need of health care.

Callous bastards, but they were right. Not that we shouldn't promote healthy lifestyles anyway--there are huge benefits in overall quality of life even though you don't save money.
