TORONTO (AP) - A health-care worker died of
SARS on Wednesday, becoming the 44th person
killed by the pneumonia-like illness in Canada's
largest city and the second to die this week.

The latest deaths come nearly six weeks after the
World Health Organization removed Toronto from
its list of SARS-infected areas, saying the city had
contained the outbreak.

Eight people remain hospitalized with severe acute
respiratory syndrome in Toronto, where almost
250 cases were recorded in two outbreaks earlier
this year.

1. Yes, we may lose
all 8 of these previously infected people.

I hope not, but it's possible.

At least, thank goodness, there haven't been any new cases.

3. They may not be new cases, but the only thing people will notice
is that there have been deaths, that people have died after it was supposed to have been contained.

5. I know...that's what's frustrating to Toronto...It IS CONTAINED!!!!
It's just that these are hospitalized cases at the time of the WHO announcement and are NOT NEW CASES and some have recovered and are recovering and some have not....It's ridiculous for this to be made a headline again as if there was a new outbreak in Toronto.
