2. Official LBN Bloomberg Press Conference Thread!
Although "media/tv alerts" of this nature are not normally permitted in the Latest Breaking News forum, I think it's appropriate to allow it, due to the newsworthy nature.

Let's keep our discussion of Mayor Bloomberg's press conference consolidated into this thread.

Thanks!

3. Bit of irony
He's telling people without power to unplug any of their electrical devices so there's not a surge when power is restored. My question: How are they hearing this information without power?
:dunce:

6. Radio
A lot of stations are running back-up generators. My mom's in Upstate NY listening to radio.

10. Battery-powered radios
Standard equipment here in Indiana where storms frequently take out the power and everybody should have one in a drawer for such situations...

4. Best Quote so far:
Black smoke coming from a power station on East 14th Street "was a natural thing," Bloomberg said.

Hmm, doesn't sound natural to me...

8. Ya know, he seems a little cranky.
Understandable, I guess, but still...

I wonder how hot it is in that press room?

11. I agree with you
He did a fine job. Noo Yawkers are supposed to have a bit of an attitude in the face of "inconvenience" as he called this. I thought he showed just the right balance of reassurance and in-your-face.
