1. Yeah, I Bet They Learned From Their Mistakes
Next time, they'll make it a closed door, backroom deal just like all their other heinous legislation.

2. Lots of lead balloons lately from the pentagon
I wonder if John Poindexter thought up this bright idea as well since he is technically still on the job?

3. They'll still do it anyway
I'm onto their modus operandi. They'll make a new plan, call it a new name and do focus groups to get the spin right then try to fly it under the radar with the spin for backup.

4. AN IDEA
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 11:44 PM by kgfnally
no, no, this is a great idea, but I just don't have the programming skills....

Isn't all business of Congress recorded in the Federal Register? Wherever it is....

Why not have a pseudo-Google Legislation program or something? Software that searches any and all proposed legislation for words or phrases would be really useful, if the FE were updated consistently....

such a tool would ensure that nothing could fly 'under the radar'. There would be too many people watching.

5. Almost right. They'll just give it a new name which means the opposite
of what they're really doing. Something like: "Soldier
Appreciation Pay."

7. I think you are correct.
And they'll give it some name like "The Vetran Benefits enhancement Act" When you read the fine print, it all will pertain to Civil War Era vets, everyone else will get their pay cut.

Unbelievable pricks...

9. I'm actually starting to feel like one of Pavlov's dogs.
They keep dangling this stuff out there to see how much the public can stand and plan their next move based on the level of public outcry.

It's getting to the point with the military families where any day I expect to see a bunch of upright citizens clothed in red white and blue standing around in a field singing along to that Country Joe and the Fish "fixin to die rag" protest song...

One Two Three what are we fighting for
Don't ask me I don't give a damn
Next stop is the desert sand...

10. The left is heavily tied to the humanitarian interests of our military
Buzzflash posts the urls of military organizations who are the nightwatchmen and women for troop welfare. When stories like this get out, send them immediately to everyone you know in the military. It will blossom from there, as this story did. People are plenty pissed with Bush right now.

Some very conservative military folk have told me Bush has let them down. Once he's lost the military, he'll have to cheat like hell to save himself.
