Activists blast Bush's Clear Skies plan (NH repugs agree)
The Concord Monitor

Local environmentalists and public health advocates condemned President Bush's Clear Skies Initiative yesterday and called upon the state's congressional delegation to oppose it.

The activists spoke on the State House plaza before an inflatable plastic power plant, which was meant to represent the industrial polluters they said Bush's proposal would benefit.

"This act would repeal, weaken and delay clean air standards at safe levels," said Michael Weil, the president and CEO of the American Lung Association of New Hampshire.

As it turns out, the majority of the state's all-Republican delegation agrees. ---

1. More on this...
The New Hampshire House actually passed a resolution opposing "Clear Skies" (nice legislative work by Rep. Sweeney of Nashua). Unfortunately, when the resolution made it to the Senate, it was gutted by the abomniable Russel Prescott. Prescott is the senator who has made a career out of torpedoing any constructive water legislation, a conflict of interest given the fact that he owns a wel drilling firm.

I'll believe Jeb Bradley and John Sununu when I see their votes. Sununu is a drone for the party leadership, and Bradley has a nasty tendency to talk a good game before selling out at the last minute. As a member of the NH legislature, he watered down an otherwise decent cap-and-trade emissions bill to placate his friends at Northeast Utilities.

2. Ugh, Russell Prescott
is NH's own spawn of Satan.

John Sununu,Jr has never had an original thought in his life, he's just a knee jerk party hack. And Bradley is a weasel.

We can always count on our legislators to do the wrong thing, here in NH.
