Edwards To Announce Candidacy For President In Robbins, North Carolina
ROBBINS, NC - On Tuesday, September 16, 2003, Senator John Edwards (D-NC) will formally announce his candidacy for president in the town where he grew up, Robbins, North Carolina.

"Robbins is a very special place for me," said Edwards. "It's where I grew up. It's home to my family. And it's where I learned the values of hard work, responsibility and fairness that made this country great. I've spent my whole life fighting for everyday working people like the ones I grew up with in Robbins. They're the people that I want to be a champion for as president. Nothing will make me prouder than to return to Robbins next month and announce my candidacy for president."

3. I like him
I have a favorable view of him. I am not sure who I want to support yet but I like Edwards. He is very progressive considering he is from a right wing "right to work" state. He has fought for a lot of ordinary people.

5. Yep
John Edwards problem is he is relatively new on the scene. The idea that he jumped too soon to the Presidency.

But he brings a lot of good things to the table. He is from a fairly Conservative state (North Carolina) so that probably keeps him reigned in a bit. With a more progressive mandate I bet he’d do great.

He has no love for large corporations, polluters, and would be a champion for consumer rights, truth in advertising and HOPEFULLY would end the marriage of business and government.

8. I know its all fun dude/ette

But come on...There is too much in-fighting between people who support one candidate or another.

Lets debate the issues and it will be decided on Dean, Kerry, Edwards (anyone but freaking Lierberman)...then be on each other side. Thats why we are getting killed. The Repukes I dont think eat each other like this.

Like the Youngbloods once sang..."Come on Now, Smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love on another right now"

12. Will his announcement...
...mean that the Senate seat will be up? Or will he do a Lieberman? I personally think he needs to be re-elected to "prove his mettle" and think he could be excellent on a ticket in the future. Even Bush, with so little experience, did a re-election bid before he bought the Presidency.

9. Withholding judgement.
The few times I saw Edwards speak, I was not overly impressed. I want to see him head-to-head with the other candidates. I could easily support him, but he has to deliver on programs, policies, and issues.

11. I like Edwards, too
But there just hasn't been any reason to pay attention to him over the last several weeks, like there has been with Dean. For instance, I kinda thought Edwards ALREADY HAD made his official announcement.

I wish Wesley Clark would make an announcemnt and soon, because I want to decide for a guy and want all comers on the table before I do decide.

13. I did, too...
I came across this story in my daily sweep of the candidates' websites...it tells you something that an Edwards supporter didn't post this here. I remember all the excitement when the Dean announcement was schedules, and I'm not seeing it here.

14. he already announced his candidacy for president
it was a few months ago in front of his home, he came out in front of a few reporters in the morning and announced he was running

I guess the Edwards camp saw what a big announcement party did in raising Dean's profile, now he's going to announce again : )

15. Edwards announced he was "exploring" a campaign back in January.
That's always the first step. Then you get a second helping of publicity when you "officially" announce.

Kerry and most of the others have not officially announced yet.

17. yup, formal announcement
although people know these candidates are running, they all have formal announcements. edwards has been lying low for a while, but i'm sure his campaign will really start to pick up now with this announcement.

16. He has a great story, is telegenic, and I want to see something there,
but I don't. All I ever hear him do is talk about his background. I was also surprised to see he's 50; I thought he was younger than that. I think next to Clark, he's the dark horse in this campaign, but he needs some work.

18. Kerry hasn't announced yet either
Just so when that happens, people won't freak out over it too.

I like Edwards, I'd like to hear some different stories. He has to have them, growing up in a small community. When I first heard him speak, I couldn't wait to hear more. And other than his policies; some good, some not; I haven't gotten that more I was looking for. Go go, go Johnny go go. He needs to rock the house!!!
