DeLay: Senators violating Constitution
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who is pushing congressional redistricting in Texas, said Sunday that Democratic state senators who fled to New Mexico to prevent a redistricting vote are violating the U.S. Constitution.

"We're supposed to, by Constitution, apportion or redistrict every 10 years," DeLay, R-Sugar Land, said on Fox News Sunday. "We in Texas have prided ourselves on honor, duty and responsibility. Unfortunately, the Democrats in the state Legislature don't understand honor because they're violating their oath of office to support the United States Constitution."

"He's full of the Christmas turkey," retorted Sen. Mario Gallegos of Houston, one of 11 senators in Albuquerque. "The Legislature had the opportunity (to redistrict), and Gov. Perry chose not to."

snip....

The Legislature did not pass a congressional redistricting bill in its 2001 regular session, at least partly because Democrats still controlled the House and Republicans controlled the Senate. Perry did not call a special session that year to take up the issue.

A federal court drew Texas' existing lines after the Legislature failed to in 2001.

snip....

On Sunday, DeLay criticized the three judges who drew the boundaries. "They did a very poor job, as evidenced by the fact we have a minority of Republicans in our congressional delegation," he said.

Oh, now I get it. When you have minority repugs, it has to be the fault of redistricting. Sorry, Tommy boy, you're the one who is acting unconstitutionally.

3. I think that's the preamble
body and closing of delay's constitution. With a postscript allowing for the revolving door to enable the legislators to get rich afterwards.

7. "that man"...
couldn't tell the differnce between a termite report and the Constitution. If the Founders had anticipated DeLay, they'd have specifically banned bugmen from holding office. Sometimes I think he just inhaled too much of 'that under-the-tent-gas'.

8. What Clark said about DeLay on Wolf yesterday
when DeLay called Clark,"a blow-dried Napoleon"

CLARK: Well, first of all, I'd be happy to compare my hair with Tom DeLay's. We'll see who's got the blow-dried hair.

But beyond that, Wolf, he's got it exactly backward. It's upside down. I am saying what I believe. And I'm being drawn into the political process because of what I believe and what I've said about it.

So it's precisely the opposite of a man like Tom DeLay, who is only motivated by politics and says whatever he needs to say to get the political purpose. And so, you know, it couldn't be more diametrically opposed, and I couldn't be more opposed than I am to Tom DeLay.

You know, Wolf, when our airmen were flying over Kosovo, Tom DeLay led the House Republicans to vote not to support their activities, when American troops were in combat. To me, that's a real indicator of a man who is motivated not by patriotism or support for the troops, but for partisan political purposes.

12. That article is WRONG!
The Legislature did not pass a congressional redistricting bill in its 2001 regular session, at least partly because Democrats still controlled the House and Republicans controlled the Senate. Perry did not call a special session that year to take up the issue.

The legislature was ALL SET to pass the redistricting bill sponsored by Sen. Wentworth (a Republican). But, it was the FAR RIGHT WING of the Republican party (Sen. Sibley) who torpedoed the bill, and never let it get to the Senate floor.

Oh and..."WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH we didn't win, so we're changing the rules...WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" That is what Tom DeLay sounds like to me. Go back to killing bugs. In fact, I've got some sugar ants in my apartment. Make yourself useful and get rid of 'em for me.

What else can you expect from the Comical? Of course they would have to imply some Democrat subterfuge or responsibility somehow.

17. Note to Tom: Keep your FUCKING nose out of state politics...
Until and unless you run and win a seat in the state legislature, keep your mouth shut and concetrate on your numerous federal-level extortion plots - it's what you're best at.

Oh and by the way, since when have you had anything but contempt for the US Constitution?

God I hate that idiot.

18. How can the Republicans change the 2/3 rule?
The article says the Democrats will go to court to overrule the change but doesn't explain what it is all about.

Anyone know about it?
