3. For Pipes

Go to www.campus-watch.org

His McCarthyist site on academia

Then do a Lexis-Nexis search or simply Google with "Daniel Pipes"

There you'll find all you need to know that Pipes on the Peace council is an offense to sanity

5. Pipes
I beg to disagree. Daniel Pipes is a well known and well respected scholar of the Middle East. As is written in his website www.danielpipes.org "is it an act of bigotry to notice that the terrorists we are fighting commit their acts of terror in the name of Islam?" He is not anti-Islam, but against the use of religious rhetoric to justify murder.

7. Beg away--

Pipes is not a respected scholar --- this term is thrown around way too much without explanation.

Those that respect him--are those that agree with his divisive and derisive attitudes regarding the region.

He is not respected by academics who actually approach the study of the region and its inhabitants with a scholarly, objective-as-humanly possible mind.

I know a huge number of academics who are diametrically opposed to his views -- but more importantly his methods and actions which are anything but scholarly and academic.

He is a divider--not a uniter. Along the lines of Martin Kramer.

Both of these figures are given too much credence by people who wish to have their prejudices backed up by a "competent" authority.

8. well respected by Netanyahu fans, maybe
Edited on Sat Aug-23-03 09:21 PM by Aidoneus
somewhat known by others as a propagandist in the new campaign of reactionary internationalism, as his father was for the previous (I say somewhat, for the general nature of the existing and unfolding processes are not as clearly known by relevant sections as they should be). That the current ruling puppet so badly wanted him for this position gives one a general idea who his ideological lense caters to.

9. wait, there is one nice thing I can say about Pipes
Edited on Sun Aug-24-03 12:55 AM by Aidoneus
he doesn't seem to like Christopher Hitchens, and correspondingly one thing I like about Hitchens is that he doesn't seem to like Pipes. In most other respects I haven't any use for either of them.

6. Is Pipes part of PNAC?
He sounds as though he is:

Pipes is a Harvard-trained scholar who, as head of the Middle East Forum, has called for a war on Islamic extremism, declaring in one post-Sept. 11 interview, "What we need to do is inspire fear, not affection."
