Bush, GOP right have squandered war on terror, Braun says
By BOB LEWIS
Associated Press Writer
RICHMOND, Va.

President Bush and the Republicans have trampled civil liberties at home and made the United States a global pariah the past two years, Democratic presidential candidate Carol Moseley Braun said Saturday.

"We've gone since 9-11 into a situation in which folks have figured out if they pander to our fear, they can push an extreme right-wing agenda not only here but abroad. What was supposed to have been a war on terrorism turned into a misadventure, just running out in Iraq, doing whatever," said the former U.S. senator from Illinois.

Braun told the Virginia Democratic Party's governing Central Committee that the party has to step up aggressively in challenging Bush not only on domestic issues such as unemployment and school funding but on the handling of the war as well.

"Think about it, when's the last time you heard (Osama) bin Laden's name. Who? Bin who? Been missing," she said.

1. Tell me if you guys worry about this too?
I worry when the wrong person says the right thing. Like Mosley Braun saying these things. Then, the people associate the right idea (that bush is a failure) with an unpopular messenger.

2. Nobody is the "Wrong Person" to speak out against Bush*
Where did you ever get such a fool idea? She has been elected to office and has a substantial following. When she speaks people listen. The only ones you may be referring to wouldn't vote Democratic if their life depended upon it anyway.

3. "unpopular messenger"???
The truth is the truth. Anyway, I don't think that many people have a bad impression of Carol Moseley Braun - they just don't think she can win the nomination - there is a difference.

4. Wrong person?
Shawn M. Smith is the wrong person if you read the article.

People say the darnest things.
