Fox drops lawsuit over Franken book
http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/08/25/fox.v.franken/index.html

"It's time to return Al Franken to the obscurity he's normally accustomed to," a Fox spokeswoman later told CNN."

I bought my copy Friday night on amazon.com to push the book higher up the best seller list.

1. Such snarkiness from a person who is supposed to represent
the corporation. I love it, she just put the period on that sentence that said Fox is a bunch of Aholes.

I hope Franken's publisher passes along a thank you note for all the publicity and a couple of free copies.

...'to which he's normally accustomed.' :hi:

On edit: You'd think they'd hire a spokesperson who could speak the language. Wait... it's Fox. Never mind.

3. Good for Franken
Hope he gets his attorney fees though. Faux News should pay for them since they filed this lawsuit which had no basis whatsoever. I've been reading my copy of the book and it's quite good. Franken could use more free publicity from Faux News.

4. "Fox drops lawsuit"
Well, that's one way to put it, I suppose.

Another way to put it would be "Fox laughed out of court."

6. "Fox laughed out of court"
LOL! Now if they had any class Bill O'Reilly would invite Mr. Franken to appear on his show.

Who in the hell even watches Fox News anyway.

20. class? O'Really?
Now if they had any class Bill O'Reilly would invite Mr. Franken to appear on his show

If Faux had any class, O'Reilly would get booted out the door just like their moronic case got booted out of court.

Then they'd hire Franken to do a show, and he'd invite O'Reilly on the show "for old time's sake".

And unplug his mike.

16. Fair and balanced way of saying it
NOT!!!!!!!!!!

I guess the judge didn't dismiss the lawsuit. In fact the judge must not have even heard about the facts concerning the case.

17. I bet they don't think they did.
They probably think they came out smelling like a rose. Of course they have the money to buy all the roses to make it look that way.

7. What a great book!
I'm half way through right now. I am very happy with the amount of substance there is to it. It was well researched and it is funny too.
He breaks it down, all of it.

8. And let's be sure and email them.
And let them know what fine folk they are. I just wrote to let them know their lawyers rate right up there with their "fair and balanced news". What fun!

10. DROPS lawsuit?
I love that headline. OK, I suppose technically that's correct. They could have appealed. But let's try to be "fair and balanced," folks. Faux News Loses Lawsuit would be a more accurate headline.

Did the examination visually... right? Best way for them to do any type of an examination!!!! I am surprised that their heads can be seen when they "report" the news.

I was hoping Faux would keep it up and make themselves look even more ridiculous than they already are.

Conservatives for tort reform - except when they want to engage in frivolous lawsuits. Idoits.

14. what Franken needs to do is
Sue Faux for his legal fees. He could then offer to settle for half the attorneys fees if they come directly from O'Reilly's pay. I say if you're going to do it, make it hurt.

22. "Wholly without merit"
Did you see the Today Show? Matt interviewed Franken. It was great. The Judged ruled that the case was "wholly without merit" and Al said that should be their new slogan. "Fox News: Wholly without merit".

He then went on to say some things that sort of explain why Bill O Really isn't inviting Al on the show. There was a certain person on Fox News that was really upset at being labeled and proven a lying liar and this person was on the cover of the book. According to Franken this man was in an "infantile rage" and probably stood over the lawyers as they wrote the legal brief.

Franken also commented on O REally claiming that Franken wasn't really a satyrist. "If I'm not a satyrist, then Bill ORielly isn't a real journ... never mind"

Matt also mentioned that before the case Franken's book was number 400 on Amazon.com now after the case it's number 1. To that, Franken responded "thank you Fox"

It was great.

24. Obscurity? Nah, just another "Decade of Al Franken"
Even better than the '80's!
(That's an SNL reference--he said the '70's were the "Me Decade" and he was declaring the 80's as the "Al Franken Decade")
